Frequently Asked Questions 1. Do I have to be a member of the Freeport Rec Center to join a program? Answer: You don’t have to be a full member, but you must possess an Activity Card: Cards are $5 for Freeport Residents and $10 for Non-Residents. The cards are good for one year from date of purchase. 2. How old does a child have to be to use the facility alone? Answer: Child must be 12 years or older to use the facility. 3. How old do children have to be to utilize the Fitness Center? Answer: Members must be 14 years or older to utilize the Fitness Center. Children who are 12 & 13 years old may exercise if supervised by an adult, and part of a family plan. 4. If my child is swimming but I am not, do I have to pay the admission fee? Answer: Yes, anyone entering the facility is required to pay the admission fee. 5. What kind of attire can I wear in the pool? Answer: Swim attire is REQUIRED, however we do allow ONLY WHITE t-shirts to be worn over a bathing suit. 6. Can my child wear a floatation device in the pool? Answer: Floatation Devices are NOT permitted in our pools unless they are Coast Guard Approved. This means arm “swimmies” are NOT allowed. 7. What do I need to purchase a 1 day pass to the Freeport Rec? Answer: Anyone (Resident & Non-Residents) entering the facility must provide a picture ID.

SUMMER CAMP Enrollment is limited and space will be reserved on a first come first serve basis. A copy of your child's immunization record and doctor’s note is required and MUST be given to the Freeport Recreation Center before the first day of the program.

Please note: Much of the camp day is spent outdoors.

Payment in full is required at the time of registration. Fees listed are per 2 week sessions

HALF DAY PROGRAM

KIDDIE PROGRAM AGE 3 by the 1st of December through Kindergarten

Fees (PER SESSION): Resident: $190 Non-Resident: $210

Children in the Kiddie program MUST be toilet trained. Kiddie Program includes swimming, sports, arts & crafts, playground time,

and loads of fun!

Lunch is not provided for Full Day Programs. You can either pack a lunch or buy lunch at our concession stand.

**A CHILD’S CURRENT REPORT CARD MUST BE BROUGHT AT TIME OF REGISTRATION TO ENSURE PROPER GROUP PLACEMENT!**

JUNIOR PROGRAM

GRADES 1st through 4th Fees (PER SESSION): Resident: $360 Non-Resident: $385

Junior Program includes swimming, sports, arts & crafts, playground time, ice skating,

special events and so much more! Don’t miss out on all the fun!

SPORTS PROGRAM

GRADES 5th through 7th ONLY Fees (PER SESSION): Resident: $450 Non-Resident: $500

Sports Program includes daily exercises, swimming, basketball, soccer,

volleyball, kickball, ice skating, and so much more! Trips are included and will be announced at a later date.

*Fridays: Campers are to be dropped off at Baldwin Lanes EVERY Friday between 9:00AM and 9:15AM

**There will be no Early Care available on Friday Mornings for Sports Camp**

EARLY CARE AND AFTER CARE

(Junior and Sports Camp Only) This program is not a structured program.

Our goal is to provide a secure environment for the children of parents who need extended time.

Early care: 8:00-9:00AM $5 per day After care: 4:00-5:00PM $5 per day Please note: Children must be picked up NO LATER THAN 5:00PM.

*Early and After care is subject to change for Sports Campers depending on trip times and locations.

SWIM LESSONS 10 class sessions

Wednesdays: July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 August 5, 12, 19, 26 September 2 Saturdays: June 6, 13, 20, 27 July 11, 18, 25 August 1, 8, 15 Level A — Parent & Child Aquatics (6 months—3 years) Parent must accompany child in water. Skills include water adjustment front & back floating, breath control & water exit. Level B - Big Dippers (4 & 5 years) This class is a “learn to swim” class designed for 4-5 year olds. Wednesdays 10:00-10:30AM Saturdays 8:30-9:00AM OR 9:15-9:45AM ________________________________________________________

(Levels 1-5 are ages 6 & up) Level 1 - Introduction to Water Skills M-F 8:45-9:15AM OR 5:30-6:00PM OR Saturdays 8:30-9:00AM Skills include breath control and underwater swimming, floating, treading water, swimming with arm & leg action on front & back. Level 2 - Fundamental Aquatic Skills M-F 8:45-9:15AM OR 6:00-6:30PM OR Saturdays 8:30-9:00AM Skills include breath control, buoyancy on front and back, swimming and changing direction, swimming on side, and swimming 15 feet using arms and legs. Level 3 - Stroke Development M-F 6:30-7:00PM OR Saturdays 8:00-8:30AM Skills include breath control and underwater swimming, buoyancy on front and back, front & back crawl, and introduction to backstroke and butterfly. Level 4 –Stroke Improvement Saturdays 8:00-8:30AM Skills include swim front crawl 25 yds., elementary backstroke, breaststroke, & butterfly. Level 5– Stroke Refinement Saturdays 8:00-8:30AM Endurance and stroke coordination in the freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke. Introduction to the butterfly.

Level 6– Fitness Swimmer Saturdays 10:00-11:00AM Resident $135 Non-Resident $225 Refine strokes to swim with greater ease, efficiency and power. Competitive starts and turns for racing. Use of fins and paddles and pull buoys for endurance. Requirements: Must have completed level 5.

Private Swim Lessons

One on One lesson with a trained and certified Water Safety Instructor. All levels accepted.

$35 per 1/2 hour lesson

SWIM TEAM

FEE: Resident $175 Non-Resident $200 The Freeport Devils are a part of the Nassau County Municipal Swim Conference. This program runs from June through August with approximately 4 practices scheduled per week during the course of the program. The team will compete against other Nassau County teams. Meets will be announced. Freeport will accept all swimmers ages 6 through 16 years of age.

KIDDIE CLUB Pre-school program begins September 2020.

Kiddie Club is for children ages 3-4 years old (must be 3 by Dec. 1, 2020) Kiddie Club, our pre-school program, is offered in a classroom setting. Daily activities include music, games, story time, arts & crafts, movement and exploration. This program is further enhanced by the amenities offered in our Recreation Center. Our Ice Rink, gymnasium and outdoor playground are included in the program’s curriculum.

Based on availability, parents may choose a morning OR afternoon session.

AM session: 9:00am-11:30am PM session: 1:00pm-3:30pm

5 days a week monthly fee Res. $160 and Non-Res. $180

*Kiddie Club is a September-June commitment, broken down into 10 monthly payments.

*Payment for the month of September is collected at time of registration.*

*Payments are due on the first of every month. A $20 late fee will be charged if

payment is not received by the 15th of each month.

KARATE

Ages: 5yrs & up

Designed to teach basic concepts of self defense

KIDS YOGA ages 5 to 9 years old

Yoga for kids encourages healthy self-esteem, body awareness, and cooperation with others in a non-competitive space. Yoga will enhance your child’s flexibility, strength, and coordination. There will be a focus on breathing and relaxation techniques as well as time for art therapy!

KIDS ZUMBA ages 8 to 12 years old

A fun-filled hour of movement in a party-like atmosphere including reggaeton, hip hop, salsa,merengue & Latin American beats. A great way to burn off a lot of energy!

TUMBLING This class will introduce new skills every week consisting of forward and backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, gymnastic positions etc. Each class will focus on the Six Pillars of Character (Trustworthiness, Respect, Fairness, Caring, Citizenship and Responsibility).

TUMBLING KIDS (Ages 6 yrs—10 yrs)

KeepFITFamily w/ Keisha This program will encourage FUN & HEALTHY LIFESTYLE CHOICES

for parents and children to explore together! Each class will be uniquely designed to create a bonding parent/child experience, encourage healthy fitness and

dietary habits and teach new and fun fitness activities! Mondays 6:00PM—6:45PM Dates: April 20, 27 May 4, 11, 18 June 1, 8, 15 Fee: Resident $50 / Non-Resident: $65 **Fee is for each parent/child pair for the 8 week session. Suggested age for children: 7-12 years. Adults, all ages welcome!!

MOM & TOT Ages 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 years old

Mom & Tot is a program designed for parents and children, which includes movement exploration, exercise, rhythm activities, games and motor skill development.

Pickleball Pickleball is the fastest growing sport for people of all ages! Don’t miss your
