Better Business Bureau Score There are 3 BBB links for FreeScore360 (or for their parent company- One Technology L.P.): On November 24, 2014 the Better Business Bureau that serves Acadiana, California is alerting consumers to the company, Credit Score OK. This company is a sister company to freescore360.com. The Federal Trade Commission has put a stop to an online scheme that allegedly lured consumers in with offering “free” access to their credit scores. This “free” access to their credit scores cost them a recurring fee of $29.95 monthly. This was a service that consumers were not aware they ordering upon sign up. The defendants marketed their credit monitoring programs through at least 50 websites, which includes FreeScore360.com. They made it very difficult for consumers to cancel this unwanted membership. Customers would have to call multiple times to a toll-free number to request the cancellation and to get their money refunded. In many cases, the company denied the refunds to these customers that unknowingly enrolled in these credit monitoring programs. You can read more about it at this link: http://www.bbb.org/acadiana/news-events/bbb-scam-alerts/2014/11/bbb-alerts-consumers-to-freescore360.com/ This link states that this company is not an accredited BBB company. http://www.bbb.org/dallas/business-reviews/credit-services/credit-score-ok-in-dallas-tx-90463062/complaints#breakdown This link states that this company is not BBB accredited as well, and has a low rating of C+. Factors that lowered this company’s rating include 2530 complaints filed and government actions have been taken against the business. http://www.bbb.org/dallas/business-reviews/internet-marketing-services/one-technologies-lp-in-dallas-tx-90008571

The Good

•  Error disputing is an plus with FreeScore360.com. Not all credit monitoring companies offer this option. Error disputing allows consumers to call and speak to a customer service representative or go online to dispute errors on your account.

•  FreeScore360.com clearly states the monthly membership cost of $29.95

at the very top of their website. It also lets customers know that after the 7-day trial that this amount will automatically be charged to the card that is on file from signing up.

•  7-day trial is offered to allow consumers to view their services before

paying the full price. •  Identity theft protection is in place if you are a member, and this will help

cover lost wages and other out-of-pocket expenses due to identity theft.

Page 9: FreeScore360

The Bad

•  The BBB has complaints filed, stating that many customers found it difficult to cancel their account in the 7-day time frame, and ended up being charged the full price.

•  Government actions have been taken against FreeScore360.com and

other One Technologies, L.P. companies because of scam and fraud claims.

•  Customer service will have to answer some questions because the

website is lacking some information. It does not state whether or not they offer error disputing, information about the company, and how they monitor and alert customers if needed.

The Bottom Line

One Technologies, L.P. is the owner of FreeScore360.com, along with a slew of other credit monitoring companies. You can find a list of all the companies using this link: https://www.freescore360.com/us/ssig/properties.aspx Some of these companies have been involved in online schemes that lured consumers with “free” access to credit scores and then billed them the $29.95. In order for customers to cancel this service, they had to call and cancel in the first 7 days, but in most cases they were not able to do so in that time period. Refunds and cancellations were denied in some consumer’s cases as well. Since these incidences, a government action has taken place and restitution has been made for customers effected by this scheme. With these issues that have taken place, the Better Business Bureau has given FreeScore360.com a low rating. Along with the alleged scheme, FreeScore360.com has missing information on their website, and when one takes the time to call the customer service number listed on FreeScore360.com, you will be speaking to a representative for Scoresense.com. At the top of the website, it states that FreeScore360.com is powered by scoresense, but the customer service reps are not very knowledgeable about the services and have the ability to answer the questions you may have about FreeScore360.com. Before signing up, take into consideration there are many other credit monitoring companies available to consumers that will be upfront about what you are receiving for the amount you will be charged, and don’t have to waste time calling multiple times to cancel the “free” trial if you are no longer interested. It is also helpful to have customer service representatives that can answer your questions in a timely manner, and is knowledgeable about the website you are signing up through.
