Frequently asked question

Is it possible to insert additional clip-art into MindMapper Pro 3.5 build 3814

After we released MindMapper 3.5.3814 Professional Edition, Microsoft released Office 2003 and Clip Art Organizer replaced Clip Art Gallery (which was the originally based format that was used to import images directly into MindMapper Pro via drag and drop).

At this time, Clip Art Organizer (clip art files) cannot be directly entered into this version of MindMapper (by dragging and dropping). One way around this for now is to bring in graphic file into Clip Art Organizer (or use MS’s library of existing clip arts). From Clip Art Organizer menu, Go to Edit, Copy. Make sure Clip Art Organizer is closed. Then from MindMapper, Go to Edit, and select Paste option.

We will address this issue in our next release and work with MS Clip Art Organizer.

A few other alternatives in dealing with clip art:(1) Use Insert/Object menu to bring in your images.

(2) From the VIEW menu, click on Window and select Clip Art. A collection of clip art window will appear on your left. Click and drag clip art into your map as a floating image. To add clip art as part of your node, select your node and double click on the image.

Frequently asked question

Does MindMapper work on the Apple Macintosh Platform?

We are very sorry to say, but we no longer support the Apple Macintosh operating systems. We had a Mac version early on in 1999 for Mac OS v7x or below learned early on that Apple required more tech support than PC users and for very few sales. Then we found out our code was not compatible with OS8.x, so we decided it was time to focus our efforts on the “masses, PC based systems”. If we were to support the Mac operating system today, we would have to build and support 4 operating versions, v7.x, v8.x, v9.x and v10.x. Maybe somewhere down the road things will change. For the time being, you might take a look at www.inspiration.com

Frequently asked question

Are there any limitations when running MindMapper in evaluation mode?

- 16 -

Page 17: Frequently asked questions

The Bosley Groupwww.MindMapperUSA.com email [email protected] FAQ Rev1.3

Besides the obvious 30-day trial period, there are few restrictions with the use of MindMapper features within the program. The 30-day time period was our way to enable users to fully explore most of its functionalities and benefits, create as many maps as you like and get a chance to feel comfortable with the product, most importantly this allows you to make an informed decision in your purchase.

A few restrictions are:

The ability to save your mind map projects The ability to create and save a default map profile The ability to share mind map projects with others The ability to import/export to MS Project and PowerPoint Any option grayed out is restricted while running in demo mode Note, once your download is registered, all restrictions will be lifted and all

features/options will be available to you.

Frequently asked question

MindMapper versions for the Pocket PC and Windows Tablet PC operating systems?

- 17 -

Page 18: Frequently asked questions

The Bosley Groupwww.MindMapperUSA.com email [email protected] FAQ Rev1.3

Pocket PC:

The Pocket PC operating system as well as hardware has gone through many changes in the last couple years. Intel just made announcement that they were introducing the X-scale processor to boost processing power, which affected current Windows OS as well as Third party programs (like us) so we waited. You should see a MindMapper PPC version near the end of 2004.

Tablet PC:

The Tablet PC operating system has realized many changes since its first release, do to poor handwriting recognition problems “which we need”. Current MS patch is better but not good enough for us. Once MS has mastered this short fall as well as others, we will move forward. Release date? Not sure, all depends on MS, lets shoot for 1st quarter of 2005.

- 19 -

Page 20: Frequently asked questions

The Bosley Groupwww.MindMapperUSA.com email [email protected] FAQ Rev1.3

If you are using less than a 17-inch monitor (like a 15 inch) you should check your display properties. To do so, please perform the following;

1. Right mouse click on a blank area of your displays desktop and choose “Properties” within the popup and choose tab labeled “Settings”

2. If Screen resolution is less than 1024 by 768 pixels you must increase to the following level by adjusting the slider in the More direction.

3. Once your display properties are set to at least 1024 by 768 you should be able to see all tool Icons on your main tool bar.

If this is does not help to you, please advise further details of this issue.

Frequently asked question

Printing problems using a HP color LaserJet printer.

We contacted HP about the 4000 series Color Laser printer, they indicated based on a standard error message most reported, PCL XL is the driver that has most likely been installed for use with this printer. HP went on further to say, PCL XL (enhanced driver) does not work with all applications and is not backwards compatible with all standard laser printer commands.

HP says, when applications encountering PCL XL errors should utilize the HP LaserJet 6P/6MP Standard Printer driver. HP also directed me to a support page (see attached link) that suggests several other possible work around for PCL XL driver, printer and operating systems.

We printed a map in Text form using HP LaserJet 6P/6MP Standard Printer driver and it printed as expected.
