Football

• Why I played:– A lot of kids I knew were playing and people told me that I

should to.– I wanted to meet new people from Parker that I hadn’t met

before.– I wanted to try something that I had never done before.

It was a fun new experience and really helped me adjust

to the new school.

Page 24: Freshman year portfolio

Wrestling

• My JV record:6-2• Team record: 14-10

Page 25: Freshman year portfolio

Wrestling

• Why I played:– I had done wrestling last year and really enjoyed it– It was good exercise and helped me stay in shape

Page 26: Freshman year portfolio

Lacrosse

• Record: ???-2

Page 27: Freshman year portfolio

Lacrosse

• Why I played:– I wanted to try out a new sport and lacrosse

looked like a lot of fun– Between Baseball, Track, and Lacrosse, it was

really the only one that looked exiting

Lacrosse was a completely new sport that I didn’t know anything about, so it was really fun trying

it for the first time.

Page 28: Freshman year portfolio

SummaryI think that playing a sport (or sports) is important to any student to adapt to a new setting or a new group of people. You get to know a lot of people who have the same interests as you and it helps you find a crowd of people that you enjoy hanging out with. I recommend playing a sport to every high school student.

Public Service

• World Vision• Lazarus House• Visiting elderly

Technically it counts as community service

Page 30: Freshman year portfolio

RCASA

• (Reading Coalition Against Substance Abuse)• I helped work on an ongoing project to ban

the sale of tobacco in pharmacies.• We learned about drugs and drug abuse and a

lot things we can do to stop it

Page 31: Freshman year portfolio

Coolidge yard Sale

• Me and two of my friends originally went there to buy stuff, but we ended up being the official trash compactors of the yard sale. (Basically we got a ton of free stuff and then threw empty picture frames into the back wall of a dumpster)

• It was the most entertaining public service ever.

Page 32: Freshman year portfolio

Yard Sale

Page 33: Freshman year portfolio

Old South UMC

Raking:• Early in the year we raked lawns for the elderly.• We raked 2 houses• The people who lived there were very grateful for

our help

Page 34: Freshman year portfolio

Old South UMC

• 30 Hour Famine– We didn’t eat for 30 hours so that wee could feel

the suffering of the poor who never have enough to eat

-We helped at the Lazarus house picking up trash and cleaning their parking lot of

debris-We visited the elderly who couldn’t leave their house often and brought them

flowers

Page 35: Freshman year portfolio

Summary

I also did some other community service projects, but I either didn’t get the sheets or didn’t need the hours.

The Community service really made me feel like I was part of the community and helped me fell more involved and attached to our towns future.
