Their performance of Frankenstein on Wednesday evening was fantastic and their talent for performance has also been in evidence in the plays they have put together in French, which have been a pleasure to attend. We have four representatives of the year group speaking to prospective parents at Open Evening and the vast majority of the year group were tour guides. They all speak with great enthusiasm and passion about their first year at Rosebery, which is lovely to hear. Year 7, and indeed all students in Years 8-10, have also coped admirably with the pressures of internal assessments which have taken place over the last two weeks It has been ‘moving day’ this week, with Year 11 students returning to ‘taste’ the Sixth Form in addition to our visitors from our feeder primary schools. I am very grateful to the brilliant Year 9 Peer Supporters for their hard work with our new recruits, which really helps smooth the transition process considerably. A reminder that next week marks the last week of timetabled lessons, before we collapse the timetable for our Activities Week. Enrichment is an important and statutory part of our curriculum and we schedule this at this stage of the term to avoid students missing a large number of lessons earlier in the year. There is a very exciting schedule of activities for every year group and I am grateful to Miss Margetts for her work in organising the week. Sports’ Day will take place on the penultimate day of term, and students will need to make their own way to the Harrier Centre (Poole Road, West Ewell) and we then finish on Friday 17 July at 12pm. I have had a number of requests for days out and holidays for the remainder of term. I know that it is disappointing that I cannot authorise these absences, but our policy on attendance, which is based on stringent national guidelines, means that, however sympathetic I might be to the reasons for the trip, I am simply unable to authorise it. The heat has added an additional challenge this week! At the moment the forecast for next week is for more moderate temperatures so, unless we contact you, we will revert back to usual uniform rules. In the meantime, we hope the sunshine will hold for our fair on Saturday; we look forward to seeing many of you there. Have a lovely weekend. Ros Allen @RoseberyHT

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had the pleasure of the company of our new Year 7 students this week but equally noteworthy has

been to see how confident and established our current Year 7s have become. Their performance of

Frankenstein on Wednesday evening was fantastic and their talent for performance has also been in

evidence in the plays they have put together in French, which have been a pleasure to attend. We have four

representatives of the year group speaking to prospective parents at Open Evening and the vast majority of

the year group were tour guides. They all speak with great enthusiasm and passion about their first year at

Rosebery, which is lovely to hear. Year 7, and indeed all students in Years 8-10, have also coped admirably

with the pressures of internal assessments which have taken place over the last two weeks

It has been ‘moving day’ this week, with Year 11 students returning to ‘taste’ the Sixth Form in addition to

our visitors from our feeder primary schools. I am very grateful to the brilliant Year 9 Peer Supporters for

their hard work with our new recruits, which really helps smooth the transition process considerably.

at this stage of the term to avoid students missing a large number of lessons earlier in the year. There is a

very exciting schedule of activities for every year group and I am grateful to Miss Margetts for her work in

organising the week. Sports’ Day will take place on the penultimate day of term, and students will need to

12pm. I have had a number of requests for days out and holidays for the remainder of term. I know that it

is disappointing that I cannot authorise these absences, but our policy on attendance, which is based on

there.

Have a lovely weekend.

PSA/Parents Social at The Cricketers – Tuesday 7 July from 7pm

Would you like to meet other Rosebery parents, guardians and carers and make a positive difference

to the school at the same time?

The PSA not only organises fundraising events and activities but also provides an opportunity to get

to know other people from the school community socially. This is something that is more difficult in

secondary schools as there is not the opportunity to chat at the school gate!

Please come and join us for a chat and a glass of wine at our next social evening on Tuesday 7 July

from 7pm at The Cricketers, Stamford Green. We would love to see you!

Disco Coordinator

Due to our current disco coordinator’s daughter leaving the school, we need a parent/carer to take

on this exciting and important role. Our Year 7 and 8 students really look forward to attending the

discos and the coordinator is key to ensuring they all run smoothly. If you would like more

information, please contact the PSA on [email protected].

Co-Chair

We are also looking for a Co-Chair of the PSA to work in partnership with the PSA and the School.

Again, for more details, please contact the PSA on [email protected].
