Day 1

Day 2• Continental Breakfast, prepare your own

baguette for lunch

• Trip to local typical French market

• Chance to taste some French Pastries, and practise your French speaking skills

• Spend some Euros on souvenirs, clothes, food

• Visit the beautiful grounds and Château de Vaux Le Vicomte.

Day 3

• Whole Day Trip to Parc Astérix!!

• Experience a proper ‘French’ theme park.

• Wide range of rides – including some

awesome ones!

• Prepare to get WET on the water attractions

• Dolphin show

• You can go round in groups with or without

teachers as long as you ‘sign in’ regularly.

Day 4

Full day in Paris

• La Cité des Sciences

• Le Stade de France

• Paris by Night, coach tour

On site activities

• Swimming Pool and free time back at Château

• Games room, football, basketball, tuck shop/souvenirs

• PGL organised activities

Medication

• Medicines – please hand all medication to Mrs Saenger in the main hall. Each item must

be clearly marked with your child’s name and clear written instructions for its use.

• PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL MEDICATION MUST BE HANDED IN. The only exception

being Asthma inhalers as each child should carry their own, but we need an ‘in-date’ spare,

which must be handed in.

• Parents should administer travel sickness tablets before the journey to school. If a top up

is needed, please put a tablet in an envelope with the time they need to take it and hand it

to Mrs Saenger. Travel sickness tablets for the return journey must be handed in with clear

instructions.

• Travel sickness wristbands/inflatable neck cushions, a pillow and small blanket for the

journey are a good idea. These can be purchased from Boots, Tesco, Sainsbury’s etc.

We must be informed of any new medical conditions at least 10 working days prior to

leaving for France otherwise the medical insurance may be invalidated.

If your child is unable to travel, a doctor’s certificate will be necessary for insurance

purposes. Please telephone school between 5.30 and 6.30 am on Monday 30th April

when we will be available to take the call before we leave – telephone number 01527

The day of travel

• PLEASE REMEMBER PUPILS MUST BRING THEIR VALID PASSPORT (or ID CARD IF

AGREED) AND EHIC ON MONDAY 30th APRIL AND HAND THEM TO THEIR GROUP

LEADER FOR SAFEKEEPING. PUPILS WITHOUT VALID TRAVEL DOCUMENTS OR

EHIC WILL BE UNABLE TO TRAVEL.

• Please arrive in school from 5:30 am but no later than 6:00 am on Monday 30th April 2018.

The coach will be leaving school at 7:00 am at the latest.

• There will be two executive air conditioned coaches supplied by PGL

• It is important that you do not block the coaches on the Monday morning, therefore please

park in the School playground. Leave the case/bag in your car until we are ready to

board. For the same reason can you also park in the playground on the Friday evening

when we return.

• Note: one case/travel bag and one piece of hand luggage (small rucksack recommended)

per pupil. Your child will be given a luggage label for their case/travel bag. This will be

stored in the hold of the coach. Please label with your child’s name. There is no need to

label hand luggage (only one small piece please).

• Come with your child to the check-in desk located in the school hall and check-in

with their group leader. Group lists will be confirmed shortly.

Food for the journey

• Please provide your child with a light breakfast plus a packed lunch and at least 3

small bottles of still water for the outward journey. NO FIZZY DRINKS WILL BE

ALLOWED ON THE COACH. Also please restrict the amount of sweets you

send for the same reasons.

• You may wish to provide your child with some healthy snack bars – no chocolate

please, for consumption during the week. Please do not allow your child to

bring chewing gum either and remind them not to purchase it while we are

abroad.

• It is a good idea to provide your child with travel games, card games and suitable

reading material for the journey.

Room allocation at the Château de Grande Romaine will be organised

shortly – We will endeavour to please everybody although this is not

always possible – very limited time in rooms, so this is not the end of

the world!!!!

Money

• Give your child’s money to their group leader. Recommended money is around

80-100 Euros (between £70-£90 – please note that you are responsible for

changing sterling into Euros).

• They will also need £10 sterling for a meal on the return journey. Please ensure

that your child’s Euros and the sterling needed for the return journey are put into

separate envelopes clearly marked with both your child’s name, the group

leader’s name and the amount. Euros should be in smallish denomination notes

in order to make money management easier for your child.

• They will also require about £5 sterling and 5-10 Euros, which they will keep on

them for the outward journey to France.

Technology – mobile phones

• MOBILE PHONES are allowed at pupils own risk, although we strongly discourage pupils not to

bring them on the trip. Usage will be monitored by the group leaders as far as possible.

• All phones must be switched off at 10.00 pm each night (9.00 pm British Summer Time).

• All mobile phones will be collected in by the group leaders and stored securely overnight. Any

pupil who does not follow the rules will have their phone confiscated and returned to you as the

parent/carer on return to school.

• MP3’s, iPods and similar may be brought – again clearly labelled. These items are your child’s

own responsibility.

• Your child also needs to understand that if they are worried or upset that they must find and talk

to a member of staff in the first instance (rather than phone home) as issues are always best

resolved locally. Your child’s mobile phone number must be given to the group leader at check in

on the Monday morning.

• Cameras – disposables are a very good idea but must be labelled. We cannot accept

responsibility for expensive digital cameras

• No photographs are to be taken in bedrooms and photographs cannot be taken of other students

or staff without their permission.

Clothing

• Clothes – there is no need to buy any new clothes despite what your child may tell you.

Casual clothes are the order of the day.

• WATERPROOF JACKET WITH A HOOD and two pairs of trainers.

• Trousers are suitable for all. Both boys and girls should have plenty of T-

shirts/shirts/blouses with at least 2 jumpers that they can put on if the weather is cool.

• Please do not allow crop tops for girls and ensure that T-shirts do not have unsuitable

slogans on them.

• A sun hat and sun cream are essential items. We will be outside quite a lot and in previous

years it has been warm and very sunny. Insect repellent for use in the evening should also

be brought.

• Towels are not provided so pupils therefore have to supply their own. (2 large – for

washing and swimming).

• Toiletries – shampoo, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, brush/comb and flannel etc.

• Please make sure your child does not bring aerosols of any kind – i.e.

deodorants/perfumes as they set the fire alarms off

• The swimming pool may be open during our visit. Please bring costume/trunks in case.

How we will keep you updated

• During the visit, Mrs Vale, Assistant Principal can be contacted at school on 01527 525916

during school hours. We will ring school on a daily basis to let them know how things are

going. If we have an emergency you will be contacted immediately. Look out for updated

daily information on the school Facebook page.

• If you need to contact us in the event of an extreme emergency during out of school

hours then please phone Miss Clavelou on 0033 07754463013. Please only use this

number in the event of an emergency.

• Please wait for the text outlining the expected arrival time (ETA) on Friday 4th May – This

will also be shared on the Facebook page. Please do not contact the school office.

• Please stress the need for your child to listen carefully to instructions; to be present

on time; to respect their own and other children’s property; and to be caring towards

each other.

• And finally, please complete the return slip attached and return it to school by Friday 16th

March 2018 at the latest! We are also asking you to re-confirm the telephone number that

you want us to send a text to on our return to school, as we have been made aware that

some numbers may have changed.
