RESCHEDULED Do you take pride in your community?
Do you want to see our ditches clean and healthy looking?
Then I encourage all community members
young and old to join us on
SATURDAY, APRIL 28, 2012—THIS IS THE NEW DATE (WEATHER PERMITTING!!)
for a
COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP & BBQ
By 9:30 a.m. on the 28th you can pick up garbage bags and rubber gloves at the Health Centre. We will conduct a 2 hour
community clean-up from 10:00 a.m. to noon.
We encourage all community members to make your starting point at the end of your driveway this way we can be sure
all ditches in the community receive some attention, work your way along the ditches and leave all full garbage bags tied up
along the roadside for pick-up!
We invite all participants to join us for a BBQ lunch at the Health Centre after the clean-up, we will also draw names for
a couple of surprises for participants!
I hope to see all community members out to help make our community a beautiful, safe and healthy place to be!

MEEGWETCH…
The Community Open House/Health Fair held on Thursday, April 12, 2012 was a great success! Bringing everyone together to share information, socialize, share a meal together is really what community is all about! Meegwetch to the people involved in the planning stages of this event; to those who worked very hard to ensure the event went well, you may have been behind the scenes but nonetheless your dedication is much appreciated. A huge thank you to Joanne Whiteduck, Kerry Andrews (who also was the MC for the event), Elsie Commanda and Annette Sarazin. Meegwetch to all Managers and staff for their hard work in making very creative, colorful and captivating displays for the members to enjoy. Meegwetch to Vicky Two-Axe along with the General Government staff as well as Chief & Council for providing a very informative “look back” and present day display of information for our members. Meegwetch to Rose and Madeline for their catering services and providing the community with a delicious meal. As mentioned by Vicky Two-Axe, Executive Director this event was a great opportunity to provide our community members with an in depth look at the services and programs here within the community. It was an opportunity to learn more about the programs, to ask questions and gather information. Overall this event has been deemed a great success! followed by individual sessions for the mothers
and children. At the end of the 10 week period
there will be a celebration and give-aways.

Pikwàkanagàn in Search of Foster Parents We are in search for Aboriginal foster parents who are licensed,
or individuals who are willing to take the training to become a foster parent.
Foster parents work together with Pikwàkanagàn Child & Family
Services/ Family & Children’s Services of Renfrew County staff to develop a plan for each child in care. The ideal plan is usually to reunite a young person with his
or her family. When a reunion is not possible, the plan may require long-term foster care.
Foster families play an essential role in the child's daily life. The stable and caring home environment that foster families provide helps encourage healthy
growth and development.
If you are interested in this ever rewarding opportunity and would like more information please
contact :
Hilda Tennisco, Supervisor Pikwàkanagàn Child & Family Services
