Christmas Edition Our society is renowned for empowering students to develop their own employability and even though we try to organize as many events that connect you to employers, we do realize that as much as we wouldn’t want to, grades carry a very high importance when it comes to ensuring a graduate job. Luckily, the Bright futures newsletter “Friday feeling” gathered a list of 7 “magical” techniques to help you overcome the assignment session that’s right around the corner. Some of the tips may seem obvious though are clearly not used and others managed to surprise anyone though proved extremely effective. FeedbacksVolunteering 1-0-1

Monday, November 17 at 2:00pm

Worcester Bright Futures Society has organised an amazing volunteering event where you had the chance to expand your contacts, network, learn from the experience of fellow students

Marius Adam – host’s view on the Volunteering event Overall, the audience was enthusiastic, engaging within all the activities and there was a positive view towards the event. People were visibly interested in what the guests had to present as well as being proactive towards the team building activities.I feel that some of them connected with the speaker after the motivational speech and got a better understanding of the opportunities provided by the university. It was a great experience and I would gladly take part within a similar event without having any second thoughts.

“Get Hire ’D“ Wednesday, November 19 at 2:00pm

Worcester Bright Futures Society has organised one of the biggest employability event of the year.

A huge opportunity to meet and expand your contacts network, with top notch employers such as HSBC, Sanctuary Group, BPP, Lloyds Bank and IBM.

Marko Damian – host’s view on the Employability event “Get Hired” was one of the biggest events that Worcester Bright Futures has organized so far this year and I could not be happier with the outcome. I received a bunch of messages and personal greets from people that attended the event. It was a very good opportunity for us all and especially for students that are interested in an internship or a placement to get into the ‘inside’ of the companies that came along and supported us. As a host of the evening, I saw a good vibe and friendly atmosphere throughout the whole evening, but also, a very professional approach from both sides – companies and students.

HSBC“I was really pleased to see that the event held was at a very high level, just as previously seen with the V-fest event. When I spoke to the other employers present, they also seemed very

pleased with the outcome of the day. And I think that this is based on the key reason that they provide bright, high performing events with confident students into the Graduate Employment market”. Happy to attend future events next year.” Ashley Davis

Lloyds Bank“I have to say that Worcester Bright Futures employability event delivered results that surpassed my expectations. I would recommend any employer to join their employability events as there is lots of potential to find a talented student that our organisations are looking for.”

Activities description

The employability challenge was to build the highest spaghetti tower that could hold a marshmallow on the top by only using tape. A few criteria’s was to have a nice design and thinking outside the box. In addition the competing teams had to deliver a selling pitch that would impress the judges. The task was not easy but the creativity was mind-blowing and many teams did an impressing job.
