FRIDAY, JULY 24, 2015 vs. BALTIMORE ORIOLES RH Chris Archer (9-7, 2.73) vs. RH Chris Tillman (7-7, 4.96) RAY MATTER—The Rays return home tonight from a 2-4 road trip (1-2 at Toronto and 1-2 at Philadelphia)…the Rays lost 5-4 in 10 innings on Wednesday at Philadelphia while leaving 8 runners in scoring position…it was also a major-league-high 65th time a Rays starter has allowed 2 runs or less (Jake Odorizzi) and the 24th time they have lost that game, also tops in the majors…the loss dropped the Rays to one game under .500 and they are now season-high 6.5 GB…the Rays have been one game under, at .500 or one game over for the past 10 days and 40 days this season (not including the All-Star break)…the Rays are 5-4 in their last 9 games while scoring only 24 runs but they have pitched to a 2.86 ERA (78.2-IP, 25-ER). Ê On June 20, the Rays were 40-30…since then, they are 8-19 and have scored 81 runs (3.0 R/G) and batted .193 (36-for-197) with RISP. Ê After having the majors’ best record in July in both 2013 and 2014, the Rays are 6-12 this month, 3rd-worst record in the majors ahead of only Baltimore (5-12) and Texas (5-11).
