PEOPLE visiting Worcestercity centre tomorrow will bein for a treat as some of thesleekest cars and newestmodels will be on display in
what promises to be a spectacularshow.
The High Street, CrownGate andCathedral Plaza shopping centreswill provide the perfect platforms forcar dealers, driving schools andvaleting firms to make theWorcester Motor Show bigger andbetter than last year’s inauguralevent. The show, which is free, willtake place between 9am and 5pm.
Twelve local dealerships will bedisplaying more than 40 cars from 20manufacturers that are bound tosuit all tastes and budgets.
VisitWorcester, a driving forcebehind the event, is responsible forthe city’s tourism, events and citycentre management, and eventsmanager Angela O’Neill said: “Weare proud to work in partnershipwith the Worcester News on thisshow following its massive successlast year. The interest which wasgenerated from the shops in the city,as well as people then, made usdetermined to make this year’sevent even bigger and better forpeople of all ages to enjoy.
“Such an event attracts both localsand visitors. We know that the cardealers will do well, the people who
attend will have a great time viewingthe 12 dealerships and children canhave a close up look at a fireengine.”
There will also be members of theHilltop Mini Club displaying eightprized motors by the Elgar Statueand in Cathedral Plaza includingone which won best in show at lastyear’s Three Counties Show.
Other firms at the motor show willbe valeting companies Auto ProValeting Ltd and DiamondDetailing. Motorists will also be ableto discuss their driving skills or signup for lessons with BSM DrivingSchool and gain further experiencewith Worcestershire Group ofAdvanced Motorists.
For something a little different,Grimley Raceway will be showingtwo of its stock and banger cars.

Director Jeremy Shackleton saidhe was looking forward to the show.
He said: “On our stand we willhave one of our state-of-the-artmobile repair trucks which providethe service to our many tradecustomers as well as a few samplewheels to show visitors our processand some of the many differentfinishes available.”
Mr Shackleton said his company,
which is based just off junction nineof the M5 at Tewkesbury, sponsoredanother motor show inGloucestershire last year.
He added: “That was a hugesuccess but we’re hoping for evenbetter results from the Worcestershow as we are much better placedgeographically to Worcester.”
Mr Shackleton said although AlloyWheel Repair Specialists is afranchise operation his companyholds the UK rights and has begunmarketing the opportunitynationwide. One area of London andanother in Belfast have already beensnapped up and he is talking to anumber of other interested partiesfrom around the country.
Tewkesbury is the pilot operationowned by breakdown and recoveryoperator Eriksons.
He said: “It was set up similar to ajoint venture. My company had thesales and marketing expertise andEriksons had the technical expertise.Used to dealing with heavilymodified vehicles and conversionsthe mobile repair unit is Eriksons’creation. Through various contactswe had between us we rapidly
developed good working relationshipswith many car dealerships from thebig prestige sites at one end of thescale to the small used car sites atthe other.
“Through newspaper advertisingand bus back campaigns we quicklyestablished a reputation amongprivate car owners for the qualityand professionalism of our operationand the majority of our work nowcomes through referrals.”
The two companies continue todevelop and evolve the businesstogether.
Mr Shackleton said his business isalmost unique in what it offers.
He added: “During 10 years ofdealership management withvolume and prestige manufacturersI became increasingly frustrated bythe poor quality repair offered by
most mobile repairers. To be fair tothem very few claim to be wheelrepair experts as they specialise inlocalised repair of the car bodywork.

ARANGE of vehicles to suitboth the city and countrydriver will be on displayat the Worcester MotorShow tomorrow.
Chyslers, Jeeps, and Suzukis fromCity & County will all be making anappearance at the event taking placein the city centre.

Ben Winslow, who since 2005 hasbeen general manager at StartinSkoda at Bowling Green Garage,Powick, near Worcester, believespeople are missing a trick when itcomes to the marque.

The Worcester Motor Show will bewelcoming the smooth curves of thesupermini Twingo, the ever-popularClio, the Megane Coupe Cabrioletand the Scenic MPV.
For Garry Milward, generalmanager, having a stable of stylishand well-known models is a clearadvantage in tough market conditions.
He said: “We have got the rangeacross the market; there is a car foreverybody with a Renault, whetheryou have a family or if you’re youngor old. It’s very difficult selling atthe moment but we've had a goodstart to the year and are doing well.”
The value-for-money urban-friendly Twingo is the relativenewcomer to the UK range boastingan array of features including in-cariPod and MP3 connectivity. Andwith 1.2 petrol and 1.2 turbo engineoptions available it is sure to attractthe new driver or the motorist withfuel economy in mind.
According to Mr Milward, the Cliooffers the same range of enginechoices with extra petrol and dieseloptions and both affordability and
versatility being the watchwords.Sure to be catching many admiringglances at tomorrow’s event is thesporty-looking Megane, while thefamily-friendly Scenic will beshowing how Renault combinesstyle with practicality. Mr Milwardsaid: “We’re looking forward togetting some sales and we’reoffering a motor show promotion.With any new or used Renault saleon Saturday you will get a free Tom-Tom sat-nav worth £199.99.”

Mr Milward who has been generalmanager for two years, and his staffare looking forward to the event.
