Friends of Forman Christian College
“All flourishing under the founding motto…’by love, serve one another.’”
Dear Friends,
I was first introduced to Forman Christian College in 2007 when I visited the campus in Lahore. I learned that this historic college, founded by Presbyterian missionaries, had recently been denationalized and returned to the American church’s care. Dr. Peter Armacost had been appointed Rector and he was early into the project of recruiting faculty, students and staff back to Forman. Money was needed for scholarships, infrastructure repairs and staff support. Friends of Forman was formed to fund the relaunch of Forman as a Christian Liberal Arts University. Eleven million dollars later (raised by “Friends” since 2003), we have seen an incredible rebirth occur on this
beautiful campus, now under Dr. Tebbe’s leadership. Forman is returning to its former prominence when it was once considered the “Harvard” of the Indian subcontinent. We have seen the student body double, the faculty diversity grow and the influence of the University expand profoundly since 2003 – all flourishing under the founding motto that trains students to, “by love, serve one another.” Christians, Muslims, Sikhs and Hindus learn in an environment of mutual respect. We invite you to join us in this very special mission of love, education and empowerment taking place in the second largest Muslim nation in the world.
With Gratitude for your partnership,

“Forman Christian College is educating leaders for tomorrow’s Pakistan.”
Dear Friends,
I wish you could have been with us this past November to see the latest class of smiling graduates receiving their diplomas from Forman Christian College. After years of study our men and women behave much like Western students, asking me to pose for a selfie with them or introducing me to their very proud parents. Our 330 faculty members work hard to give these young people the highest quality education they can, in an environment of Christian grace where human dignity and respect is granted to every person regardless of his or her background. Because of our generous
scholarship program and expanding dormitory capacity we are able to accept students from all over Pakistan to our beautiful 104-acre campus in Lahore - training future leaders in an environment of inter-faith harmony. Thank you for being a partner with us in this important educational mission started over 150 years ago by our founder, the American Presbyterian missionary, Charles Forman.
With Warm Regards,
Dr. James TebbeRector, Forman Christian College

“There are few places in the world where Muslim and Christian students can study together, focusing not on what divides them, but on how they can work together for
the betterment of their country and their world. I rejoice to see how Forman Christian College has flourished since it was returned to the church.”

In my hometown the educational system is in the doldrums because of the current economic and political scenario. This is why, for people from Balochistan, education holds a great importance. I would say that education is equivalent to the breath of life.
I chose FCC for two reasons: Firstly, it has the Liberal Arts education system which provides a student the liberty to choose varied subjects. Secondly, the tolerant environment teaches the lessons of integrity, love for all ethnicities and all religions.
My father is a teacher in a primary school in Zhob and his pay is not enough to support my education, as well as the education of my siblings and household expenses. FCC’s scholarship program makes it easy for students like me to pursue my educational dreams.
After graduating from Forman Christian College, I want to be the catalyst to turn around the situation in Balochistan and work with social welfare communities who are trying really hard to bring about changes.
The opportunity to study at Forman is a big miracle in my life. It was like the helping hand of God that provided me a huge uplift. It was only because of the financial aid I received here, that I was able to complete my studies and also later financially help my younger siblings to study here. I strongly recommend that everyone should have the Forman experience once in their life time. It is the best university in Pakistan!
Currently, I am working at the Advancement Office of Forman as a Senior Manager, raising funds for needy students that I also was once. It has further strengthened my belief that we are all part of His plan for transforming the lives of His people in Pakistan. What a great honor indeed!
Keeping it in the family: Adeel’s younger brother, Farrukh, followed his path to FCC. Farrukh graduated in 2016 with BS degrees in Physics and Math, winning the Dr. C.M. Hussain Medal in Mathematics for the highest GPA in the Mathematics Department.

Along with FCC’s great reputation as a Christian college with scholarly education and American administration, my parents’ wish for their kids to study at Forman Christian College brought me to FCC. After admission and becoming fascinated by the style and level of education, I shared my wish of studying abroad to my father. He encouraged me by saying that I must wish for it, pray for it, do my best in the lot I have and God will provide the funds for it. I got the opportunity to study in California on Fulbright scholarship by the US State Department in 2014. I was the only Christian and the only Formanite among the 5 students from Pakistan to be selected for this program. The highlights of the scholarship include well-equipped universities, importance of research, and wonderful hospitality by friends and families who loved me as their daughter.
The environment and education style were not new to me because Forman has American standards. I highly recommend other students to be open and watchful of opportunities to study abroad as I enjoyed it very much. I believe traveling expands the horizon of one’s thinking.
