• Contours
The weight-bearing leg that anchors a pose is called the supporting leg.
The other, non-weight-bearing leg that is free to move in a pose is called the extended leg.
Foreshortening is fun!
Dynamic poses make the fabric MOVE!
Foreshortening is a term for the visual displacement of a bend in the body as it moves forward or back from the rest of the pose. This bend, or foreshortening, moves a portion of the body away from or closer to your eye level in the sketch.
Foreshortening: Arms
Foreshortening is the illusion that one part of the body is pushed closer or further away than its other parts.
This illusion alters the form and, while it is an important part of understanding and drawing the fashion figure, it can be a nuisance in fashion design detailing because of the forced angles in form.
