Dear Colleague,

thOn 12 August 2021 we got an opportunity to apprise Hon'ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang about the status of NHPC Projects in the state. Hon'ble Chief Minister took keen interest in the deliberations and way forward for early resolution of issues related to Teesta-IV Project. Hon'ble Chief Minister has assured of its early resolution. On the same day I also met Shri Bhartruhari Mahtab, Hon'ble MP (Lok Sabha) & Chairman, Standing Committee on Labour at New Delhi and apprised him about NHPC's contribution in development of Hydropower in the country. Hon'ble MP took keen interest in our upcoming projects in Odisha.

We have an organization with strong fundamentals and employees with immense capabilities and potential. All we need is to channelize these qualities for the good of the organization. We have improved a lot, however there is scope for further improvement. We must be proactive in dealing with issues and instead of compartmentalized decision making, the focus must be on broader perspective. Also we need to be more ambitious in our project execution and the goal should be to commission the projects ahead of committed schedule. It may sound tough, but we have achieved successes, solely based on your commitment and dedication and I don't see any reason why it cannot be repeated.

Project and Dibrugarh on 23 & 24 August 2021. Hon'ble Minister reviewed the progress of the on-going works and urged all the team members to complete the project on time. Hon'ble Minister laid the Foundation Stone for the start of Turbine Assembly of Unit # 1. Hon'ble Minister also visited an Exhibition organized by Farmer-Producers Companies in the field of Piggery, Sericulture and Handloom. He appreciated NHPC's efforts for Livelihood interventions in the downstream areas of the Project.

The Committee on Subordinate Legislation, Rajya Sabha held discussions with NHPC on Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Procedure, Terms and Conditions for grant of trading licence and other related matters)

th Regulations, 2020 on 19 August 2021 at Srinagar. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Labour held a meeting thwith NHPC on 25 August 2021 at Srinagar regarding the “Deployment of Contract/Casual/ Sanitation workers and

implementation of Labour Laws concerning the welfare of such workers in NHPC in the UT of J&K”. The committee expressed its satisfaction with NHPC policies and systems for treatment of such workers.

th thAll the Functional Directors of the Board visited Subansiri Lower Project/ Dibrugarh from 6 to 8 August 2021 to review the progress of works vis-à-vis targeted commissioning of two units by August 2022. It was heartening to see that despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, project has maintained decent pace of works. I am sure that the project team shall further augment its efforts and achieve the targeted commissioning schedule.

Your sincere pursuance of excellence is remarkable and the same is getting reflected in our quarterly numbers. Our standalone net profit for the first quarter of the current fiscal stood at Rs 912 Crore against Rs 723 Crore in Q1 of the last fiscal, recording a growth of 26%. What is far more impressive is that this has been accomplished in an

ndenvironment which was exceptionally difficult due to the 2 wave of the pandemic. I am inspired by people working hard, taking care of each other and finding the best way to support colleagues with an “upbeat, can-do attitude”. The dedication that each one of you has shown, guides us in every endeavor of ours, in continuing the work with this zeal, commitment and spirit.

rdI had the privilege of meeting Shri N. Biren Singh, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Manipur at New Delhi on 3 August 2021. Hon'ble Chief Minister was informed about the various issues related to the 66 MW Loktak Downstream Hydroelectric Project. Hon'ble Chief Minister assured of his full support for the project. Hon'ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) visited Jammu and Srinagar from 21 to 26 August 2021. The Committee held a meeting with officials of Ministry of Power and NHPC on “Performance of Power Plants of

thHydro Sector” on 24 August 2021. The committee appreciated performance of NHPC. During the visit, I also met Shri Rohit Kansal, Principal Secretary (Power Development) UT of J&K and held discussions regarding our projects in UT of J&K.

I was humbled to receive recognition from National Solar Energy Federation of India on the occasion of Akshay Urja thDiwas on 20 August 2021. The Federation recognised the top notch efforts put on by you for signing of PPA and PSA

and subsequent tariff adoption by CERC for 2000MW solar power projects awarded by NHPC as an intermediary. This award may have been conferred upon me, but it is the culmination of excellent work done by you.

During my visit to Jammu on 29.08.2021, I had the opportunity to apprise Hon'ble Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology, Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh about the status of our various projects. Hon'ble Minister appreciated NHPC's initiatives and assured of his full support to our Projects. Further to this, Hon'ble Minister on 30.08.20211 held discussions about the progress of works and various issues of 1856 MW Sawalkot, 540 MW Kwar H E Project and the 850 MW Ratle H E Projects. Hon'ble Minister has also planned a visit to Ratle H E Project in the coming month.

The 75 Independence Day was celebrated across NHPC locations with great enthusiasm.

Ü Fit India Freedom Run 2.0' under 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' was organized at NHPC Residential Colony, Faridabad on 15.08.2021 which saw large participation from NHPC employees and their families.

Ü Chutak Power Station, Minji, Kargil, Ladakh has been certified as ISO 27001:2013 ISMS implemented power station on 03.08.2021.

Ü National Handloom Day was observed at Corporate Office on 07.08.2021.

Ü Thousands of NHPC employees, contract workers and their families participated in rendition of National Anthem as a part of an initiative by Ministry of Culture under Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav Campaign.

Ü Sadbhavna Diwas was celebrated across NHPC locations on 19.08.2021 and 20.08.2021.

During my recent visit to Salal Power Station, I happened to visit the Kauri Bridge, world's tallest Railway Bridge, being built by the Konkan Railways over the Chenab River. It is a marvellous piece of engineering and what delighted me was the fact that two of our ex- NHPC engineers Shri R R Malik and Shri Sujoy are the key personnel of the project. This has again strengthened my firm belief that we have the best engineering talent. All they need is mentoring and guidance to evolve into world class engineers. As an organization we should learn from such structures, how these are being planned, construction methodologies and systems for flawless execution. Our young engineers must visit such places and get inspired to dream big and construct big.

Our Sports Scholarship scheme is beginning to show results. Shri Bharat Joon, one of our Elite Sports Scholar, won Gold medal at the SBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in 81kg category of junior boys' section. We congratulate the young pugilist and hope he will continue to bring glory to the nation. Shri Navdeep, another of our Elite Sports Scholar is representing the country in Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games in the Javelin Throw F-41 category.

Ü NHPC organized 'Van Mahotsav 2021' programme in association with Haryana Forest Department, Faridabad near NHPC Chowk, Faridabad on 09.08.2021. Over 700 saplings of various species were planted during the programme.

Ü A MoU was signed between NHPC and NTPC for 'cooperation in overseas power sector'. The MoU shall facilitate taking up project development, capacity building, O&M, RMU and other consultancy assignments outside.

Ü A MoU was signed between NHPC Limited and PFC Limited on 24.08.2021. It will facilitate in expanding NHPC's Energy Portfolio in Hydroelectric Power Projects development & acquisition of assets through NCLT.

Ü During the month of August 2021, the total revenue collection was Rs. 855.95 crore.

Ü The total cumulative generation of all NHPC power stations till the end of August 2021 stood at 14452.7 MUs. Although at the end of the first quarter we were around 860 MUs short compared to the last year, we have made up significant part of the deficit in July and August.
