Learning Intentions

• Academic Goals– To learn some background information about

Scotland that will allow us to start to compare China to Scotland

• Social Goals– To listen to each other and take turns to share

information

Success Criteria

• I can give at least four pieces of information about Scotland

• My group will have a completed placemat and we will each have a completed table of information about Scotland.

• I will be able to complete a venn diagram for homework on the similarities and differences between China and Scotland

What do you already know about Scotland?

• Person number 2 in your group should take the piece of flipchart paper and divide it as shown below.

• In your section of the paper write down anything you already know about Scotland. It could be to do with culture, fashion, landmarks, people or anything else you can think of – just write it down!!

• You have 3minutes to do this.

• Now you will share your knowledge with the rest of your group.

• Everyone is going to take turns to read out what they have written down in their section of the placemat.

• Any information that you have that other members of your group also is written in the middle section of the paper.

• You have 3 minutes to do this.

• We will now hear some information from each group.

• Everyone should be able to share at least one piece of information from their group on Scotland.

• Each group is going to be given a different set of information.

• You must read this as a group and ensure that everyone in your group understands it – Remember that you will be the expert on this when you return to your home group!!

• Divide your page into four and put the headings– Overview– Facts– Media– Leaders
