I. The Resurrection (v.10)

A. The Cross was in God’s plan. - It pleased the Lord to bruise Him. - Verse 7: He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep

before its shearers … - John the Baptist: John 1:29 “The Lamb of God who takes away

the sin of the world!” - Peter said He was “a lamb without blemish” (1 Peter 1:19) - Revelation 13:8 … the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the

foundation of the world. - Revelation 22:1 … the throne of God and of the Lamb. - v3 And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God

and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.

It was HIS plan!

B. His soul became an offering for sin (v10). - Consider all the offerings over all those centuries. - These were all types that foreshadowed the coming

cross. - Hebrews 9:11-14 … 12Not with the blood of goats and

calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.

13For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, 14how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

C. A prophecy of the resurrection. - “He shall prolong His days.” (v10b) - He lives to die no more – (Rom. 6:7-9) For he who has

died has been freed from sin. 8Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him.

- John 11:25-26, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

- v10 The pleasure of the LORD: God’s plan was unfolded.

D. Here is the Gospel

- 1 Cor. 15:3-4: … that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures …

E. The Cross and resurrection are God’s good news.

- 1 Cor. 15:19-20, If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.

II. Justification B. God could be just & the justifier of the repentant sinner.

- Romans 3:24-26, …being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,

26to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

*God does not forgive sins, He forgives sinners,

Sins must be paid for!
