It is important from time to time to recall the significance of what we do when we gather as God’s People, as His Body – the Church. We gather for Liturgy in worship of God, who in Jesus Christ has given His Life for us. Liturgy is the work of God’s people as we come into His grace. We enter into the salvation given to us in Jesus Christ when we join the community of saints in praise of God. This is why we say, “Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of Hosts!” with the choirs of Angels and saints in Glory. We enter into the story and drama of the Lord’s Life and of His Grace. We are not at a show or a theatre production as in Branson or at Broadway, but rather we are part of the divine reality. We share in the Glory of the return of Jesus to His Father. Thus, we come not to focus on ourselves and our achievements but on being responsible to the Redemption offered to us. The Praise we offer at Mass is for God’s grace and for worship of Him – not of ourselves. As Pope Benedict reminds us, “whenever applause breaks out in the Liturgy because of some human achievement, it is a sure sign that the essence of Liturgy has totally disappeared and been replace by a kind of religious entertainment.” Because of this, we are called to focus on the Glory of God and not the praise of mankind. We give “Glory to God in the Highest,” in celebrating the Liturgy where “the work of our redemption is accomplished.” (Sacrosanctum Concilium, 2 – The Constitution On The Sacred Liturgy, Vatican II). Therefore we are participants and not spectators in the Heavenly Liturgical Banquet of our Redemption. Mindful of what God has done for us; let us come to do the work of God’s grace and “Praise the Lord in His Sanctuary!” (Psalm 150)

Desde el Escritorio de Padre Jason… Es importante de vez en cuando recordar el significado de lo que hacemos cuando reunimos al pueblo de Dios, como su Cuerpo- la Iglesia. Nos reunimos para celebrar la liturgia y alabar a Dios, quien en Jesucristo ha dado su vida por nosotros. La liturgia es el trabajo del pueblo de Dios al entrar en su gracia. Entramos en la salvación que nos da Jesucristo cuando nos unimos a la comunidad de los santos al alabar a Dios. Por eso es que decimos “Santo, Santo, Santo es el Señor Dios del universo” con los Ángeles y los Santos en la Gloria. Entramos en la historia y el drama de la vida de Jesús y su gracia. No somos una producción de teatro como Branson o Broadway, somos parte de la realidad divina. Compartimos la gloria del regreso de Cristo a su Padre. Sin embargo no nos enfocamos en nosotros o en nuestros logros si no en ser responsables de la reden-ción que se nos ha ofrecido. Las alabanzas que ofrecemos en Misa es para la gracia de Dios y la alabanza a el –no a nosotros. Como nos recuerda el papa Benedicto, “Cuando aplaudimos en la liturgia por algún logro hu-mano, es una segura señal de que la esencia a de la liturgia ha desaparecido y ha sido reemplazada por algún tipo de entretenimiento religioso.” Por esta razón, estamos llamados a enfocarnos en la Gloria de Dios y no en la alabanza a los hombres. Le damos “Gloria a Dios en las Alturas,” al celebrar la Liturgia en donde “el trabajo de nuestra redención es completado.” (Concilio Sacrosanto, 2 –La Constitución sobre la Liturgia Sagrada, Vaticano II). Por esa razón, nosotros somos participantes y no espectadores en el Banquete de la Liturgia Celestial de nuestra redención. Con nuestra mente en lo que Dios ha hecho por nosotros; hagamos el trabajo de la gracia de Dios y “bendigamos al Señor en su Santuario!” (Salmo 150)

Baptismal certificate (or birth certificate if not baptized) is required for each child you are registering. The Parish School of Religion (PSR) program is for all K – 5th grade students who are not currently attending SVDP Catholic School. All 6th through 8th graders are encouraged to be a part of EDGE. All 9th through 12th graders are invited to be active members of LifeTeen. EDGE and LifeTeen provide catechetical and spiritual formation in a community-building environment. Registration is easy and it saves to do it early! No one will be turned away due to financial need. Please direct inquiries to any member of the Religious Education department.

Camp Subiaco is a one-week boys camp for boys ages 9-13 held at Subiaco Abbey, south of I-40. It is operated by the Benedictine Monks and uses the Subiaco Academy facilities including the swimming pool, tennis courts, athletic fields, dormitories, cafeteria, art center and lake facilities. Helping Hands is a non-profit thrift store, from which proceeds are used in Benton County to aide residents in need. Our next scheduled parish work day is Saturday July 6, 2013 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help as cashiers, clerks, baggers and receivers. Totus Tuus - Beyond VBS! We are currently seeking volunteers for our week-long program. This year we will need VIRTUS-trained adult chaperones for both day and evening programs, as well as families willing to host dinner for our visiting Totus Tuus teaching team. The team consists of four young, charismatic college-aged men and women who are discerning their vocation while sharing their love and enthusiasm for our Catholic faith with our children. NFP classes are starting almost every month in Northwest Arkansas. Find schedules at the diocesan web site (www.dolr.org) “Marriage and Family” section, “NFP” link (phone: (501) 664-0340). The methods of NFP reflect the dignity of the human person within the context of marriage and family life and promote openness to life and the value of the child. NFP classes are now required as part of marriage preparation for all couples in the Diocese, and already married couples are invited and welcome to register for a class series as well. NFP methods can help couples with infertility and women's health issues. Some of these moral methods have a higher success rate than IVF.
