Student Corner – …….. GO-GREEN…….. Soundarya V Yadav [1JS17IS072], Sangeetha S [1JS17IS060]

People nowadays are becoming somewhat responsible towards the environment but this much contribution is not enough. Everyone needs to do their part and all of us should contribute in making environment and living conditions better. So we as students must try everything we can at our individual level to save our environment from being destroyed. In order to create a go-green environment, the following green tips need to be adopted by us to bring out the real difference -

Each student must suggest every other student to use less paper.

Carry a reusable water bottle so you will not need bottled water, thereby avoiding plastic bottles in campus.

Carry reusable bags while you go for shopping .

Bi-cycling is recommended inorder to keepup noiseless environment in the campus.

Avoid buying a pile of clothes inorder to avoid unnecessary carbon emission.

Conserve electricity by turning off lights and unplug electronic circuits when not in use.

Cut down on water use by turning off taps when not in use in the campus.

Plant more trees and water them when you are free to relax yourselves. Page 2

By following the above tips, we can create a positive impact on the environment and reduce the harm that has already been done. By practicing the above eco-friendly habits, all of us can contribute to earth's well being and ourselves.

Faculty Corner - “AN OBSERVER’S LIFESTYLE” – Mrs Sowmya K.N

“ Realization of how the power of observation can change once perception and action in life ” When we sit and relax in a silent place we always find ourselves overpowered with lot of thoughts running across mind, few worthy to consider and some not.

Life is never the same for all though sailing in the same ship due to multitude of factors. The facts that lead to tension, anxiety, stress, anger, restlessness, pleasant and unpleasant notions vary from one person to another. Each of us needs to reflect upon these issues to understand what is really causing an issue and how to handle them.

The way we lead life and how people around us behave and converse affect our lifestyle in much. for example, Consider the reaction and mannerisms during our conversation with our colleagues that would get the better or worse of us. Now the question arises, how is that possible? Well, it is simple; Observing and absorbing their words and body language has a greater impact on our response to them than the actual matter at hand.

How then could we change this? Understand life is simple. We need to become an ‘observer of life’ and not an ‘absorber’ of our surroundings.

How can we embark on this journey of leading an observer’s lifestyle? Here are some ‘to dos’ to try:

We need to understand that life is a journey to be undertaken and it is not a race to be won. Never compare your life with others.

We need to cultivate detachment or absolute unaffectedness to situations and people i.e. ” stithpragya” as said in Bhaga-vad Gita. Response to situations with a clear and unbiased attitude serves for the good of mankind, supporting the win-win situation every time.

Cultivate absolute humility within ourself so that anything that seems to be aimed at us does not affect us personally, but is considered as a learning experience.

Stay connected at all times to that inner guidance within – our heart. This will hopefully lead us to an integration of all our actions and thoughts, and allow us to follow our intuition.

Listen with the intention of understanding our peers. Many a time, we listen only to respond, and that one attitude severs relationships and business prospects.

In our life of constant thoughts and un restful mind, these few attitudinal changes bring about an all-encompassing change of attitude.

For more clarity, it is recommended to observe nature. Reflect on the purity that lies in nature and its beauty of balance.
