Dear Parents
I hope you have booked your time slot for the goal setting meeting with your child’s class teacher. I attend all the meetings for the Grade R and Grade 1 children, and am available for any other meetings, at parents or teachers request. I dearly wish I could be part of every single meeting, but it is just not logistically possible! It is so beneficial to be part of the multi-disciplinary team, in order to ensure that your child is getting the best support that we can offer. You, as the parents, are an integral part of the multi- disciplinary team and we value all the input that you bring to the table. After all, we are all in the business of ensuring your child becomes the best that he/she can be, and reach their full potential.
The children are gearing up for the Easter weekend and we look forward to the Foundation Phase Easter Hat parade on Thursday at 10am. A reminder that school closes early on Thursday – 11.30am for the Foundation phase and 12 noon for the Intermediate phase.
We wish you all a blessed Easter and for our Jewish families, a happy Pesach. If you are travelling this coming weekend, please do so safely and we look forward to seeing you all back at school on Tuesday 7 April.
“Where there are experts, there will be no lack of learners.” - African proverb
God Bless Jayne Eurelle
Please note that we will close school early on Thursday 2 April
in preparation for the Easter weekend. The Foundation phase
will finish at 11.30am, and the Intermediate phase will close at
12 noon. There will be aftercare
available. School re-opens on
Tuesday 7 April.
Congratulations to Jocelyne Sturgeon on the birth of her first grand child, Wren on Thursday,

ASSEMBLY NEWS Thank you to 2H for their lovely assembly on ‘Being Safe, Responsible
and Respectful with Water Use’. Our next assembly, on the 13th April, will be presented by Grade 2F. All parents and visitors are welcome to
attend. Assembly begins at 07h30. We look forward to seeing you there.
Cedarwood welcomes
Kaylee Fraser—Grade 3H
who has joined the Cedarwood Family, and
Saiyen Pather—Grade 5
who is on trial this week. We know you will love it
here!
Dear Parents
Cedarwood will be supporting Kitty and Puppy Haven charity group this term. Those of you who have visited this centre know what an amazing job this organization does and we would like to show them our support and gratitude for the hard work they do.
Each teacher will have a collection tin in her class in which children can place their small change from tuck or small donations from their pocket money. Other members of the family are also allowed to make donations should they wish, however, we would like to encourage the children to make their donations from their own money (change from tuck etc.), as opposed to being given money from their parents solely for this purpose, thereby instilling a sense of responsibility to the community.
There will be a prize for the class who raises the most money.
Thanking you in advance for your support The community committee.

From the Sports Desk…
As we slowly grind to a halt with the sport, we realise more and more that we have not really started. We realise that there is more that we do not know than what we do know. We realise how much more work we still need to do and how much more we still can do. However, do we let this worry us? Not in the least! Such is the stuff that life is made from. We learn less than we forget. This brings us to what some philosopher once said about education. They said education is whatever remains after we have forgotten everything else we learnt. Whether this is an apt definition is, I think, beside the point. The point is that when we have at least something we remember from the sessions we have had on the cricket pitch, and that it was a fruitful session. Even if it has been to be able to play harmoniously with our peers, then it will have been all worth it.
Last week, we played two matches for the senior cricket team and one for the mini cricket boys. On Wednesday, the senior boys went to Northsands and our boys managed, as usual, to outclass their opponents right in their backyard. We say well done to the team and hope that this spirit will be carried over to other spheres of sport at Cedarwood.
When the mini cricket team returned to Northsands for their own match, there was a repeat of the Wednesday match and the Northsands players were left wondering what had hit them. The senior boys had gotten to a stage where they were confident enough to take on the best. On Friday, they challenged the Cedarwood College to a match and this challenge was taken up. Unfortunately, the match was rained out after five overs. We agreed that this would be settled once and for all on Tuesday during the normal cricket practice session.
Looking forward, we will be hosting an inter-house athletics meet on the last day of term, that is on the 17th of April, 2015. We hope that you will come and support this august and auspicious event because if you do not, we will not be held responsible for what happens to you.
Kind regards Oliver Ngwenya

Congratulations to Karl Weissenberger and Tyron Simpson who
competed in the Inter‐schools Equestrian Vaulting League. Vaulting
is gymnastics on horse back, although our two budding vaultists were
competing in their first ever show,
so they worked on a barrel to
ensure the safety of the children.
They both walked away with
beautiful ribbons and did
Cedarwood proud. We look
forward to seeing your first event
on horse back—Well done!
Congratulations to Sean Herron and
his pony Harmony Wakka for, once
again, flying the Cedarwood flag
high. He competed in the Fourways
Riding Centre training show over the
weekend and received two clear
rounds for 40cm and 60cm; as well
as a first place for 50cm show
jumping—Well done!
Congratulations to Nomaliso
Motlabani, who also competed
in the Fourways Riding Centre
training show over the weekend.
This was Lizo’s first show
jumping show, and she walked
away with a beautiful ribbon,
first on many—Well done!
Congratulations to Liam Pursey
who has been awarded his
yellow belt and two orange
stripes in Judo—Well done!
Congratulations to Robbie van
Heerden who is also becoming a
force to be reckoned with. He was
awarded his orange belt and two
green stripes in Judo—Well done!
