is created to let you comfortably roar your
way through life’s little obstacles.
Whether you like to spend your free time water-skiing at the dam, or mountain biking in the forests, both the 2.0 GX and 2.0 GX CVT can easily take you there. These models are 2WD crossovers with some serious SUV attitude.
But if you’re a city slicker with an adventurer’s soul, driven by the desire to blaze your own trail, hop into either the 2.2 D-4D GX or 2.5 Auto VX and make any adventure yours. Both are fully capable AWD vehicles, at home in urban landscapes and in the lands time forgot.
2.0 litre petrol engine
Get the 2.0 litre RAV4 engine in either a 6-speed manual transmission or a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). A 2WD, this engine has 107 kW of power at 6200 r/min with torque of 187 Nm at 3600 r/min.
2.2 litre diesel engine
For more power, take the 2.2 litre diesel RAV4 with a 6-speed manual transmission, which utilises an AWD system. This engine has a powerful output of 110 kW at 3600 r/min with torque of 340 Nm at 2000 - 2800 r/min.
2.5 litre petrol engine
For the ultimate RAV4 experience, take the 2.5 litre petrol model. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic, AWD with 132 kW of power at 6000 r/min and torque of 233 Nm at 4100 r/min.
So whatever road you wish to travel, the RAV4 is built to take you there and beyond.

Take the rear spoiler standard on all models, for example. It not only looks great but reduces air drag, making the RAV4 more aerodynamic.
The roof rails are standard on all models which, combined with Genuine Toyota Accessories, will be able to carry your sporting equipment. Another bright idea is the daytime running lights, standard on all models. They don’t just enhance the exterior appeal of the vehicle; they also increase visibility on the road, especially during bad weather conditions. The VX model has state-of-the-art High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights, which make sure you spot any little obstacle from far off.
The VX model also boasts powerful fog lights that cast strong beams of light on the road’s surface, which is most helpful in poor weather conditions. But on clear nights, you can stargaze in comfort with the VX model’s moon roof – which always adds to a romantic evening.
All models come standard with 17" alloy wheels. The VX model has a chrome trim on the lower grille, which gives an air of style that contrasts convincingly with the sporty, lowered front bumper.
Finally, the colour-coded exterior mirrors with integrated side indicators and redesigned door handles complete the confident, stylish look of the new RAV4.
While you’re enjoying relief from either the air conditioning, or the heater, you’ll be pleasantly supported on high-quality fabric seats in the GX models or a luxurious combination leather trim in the VX. The trim comes in either beige or black, whichever suits your style best.
The rear seats are also adjustable, with a 60:40 split so you can create more space as needed.
IT’S WHAT’S ON THE INSIDE THAT COUNTS.
No matter how harsh the environment you’re in is, you’ll be treated to a pleasant internal atmosphere, as all models have an air conditioner with pollen filters. The VX model’s air-conditioning system is automatic for your convenience, with separate controls for the driver and front-seat passenger. The VX will also ensure you and your front-seat passenger enjoy seat warmers on those cold winter nights.

You can comfortably block out the concrete jungle by accessing your favourite soundtrack on the touchscreen display audio with a radio, CD player and iPod compatibility, available on all models. It adds to the stylish dashboard’s allure while making music selection a breeze. If your library of tracks is on a memory stick, simply play them through the USB port. Just be sure to give the great outdoors your favourite soundtrack to make the most of the six, quality speakers.
You can also connect your phone or music devices to the system via Bluetooth. Although you may prefer to tune into the local radio station instead.
While you’re listening to your selection, driving is made convenient through a Multi-Information Display (MID). Another convenience is being able to answer your cellphone by using the steering wheel with Bluetooth controls. You don’t even have to take your hands off the wheel. These controls also let you access the Multi-Information Display (MID), audio and your cellphone.
If you’re a proud owner of the VX, you only need to have your keys in your pocket for the Smart Entry System to unlock the door as you approach. Which is especially convenient on a stormy evening. Then the Push Start System lets you be on your way with keys still firmly in pocket. A power boot door with automatic operation makes for easy and convenient loading and unloading, as well as adding to the style of the vehicle too.
Once you’re off, the VX model makes driving in windy, rainy conditions a breeze, because the windscreen wipers have sensors to switch on automatically.
Equally helpful on the VX is the electrochromatic interior rear-view mirror, which detects the headlights from the driver behind and adjusts accordingly by automatically dimming. If a driver is blinding you from behind with his headlights on bright, the mirror will automatically dim.
The VX also comes standard with cruise control, which helps you maintain a comfortable travelling speed.
Finally, all models come with an internal tonneau cover and multi-purpose net, providing secure covering for items in the boot.
Whichever road you choose, the RAV4 is equipped with important
safety features to handle it.
PLAY SAFE.
There’s the standard Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) to help you in emergency situations. It’s enhanced by an Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) system that speedily calculates which tyres require the most assistance in braking, at every given millisecond.
Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) helps keep traction on slippery surfaces by reducing engine power while applying the brakes to individual tyres to keep you on your intended path.
The VX model comes with Downhill Assist Control (DAC), which automatically controls the brakes to provide adequate deceleration. So you’ve got a constantly safe speed, even on very steep slopes.
You also don’t need to worry about incline starts or takeoff. At that crucial moment just after you’ve released the brake to put foot to pedal, the smart Hill-Start Assist (HAC) stops the vehicle from accidentally rolling back.
But when you intend on reversing, the rear clearance and back sonar will help you out. There are four sensors on the rear bumper that will alert you if you are nearing any obstacles. Additionally, the VX model has a back monitor to improve your rear visibility without straining your neck. It’s especially helpful when you’re entering or exiting a parking bay.
High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights available on the VX give you better visibility with stronger light while using less power.
While the Follow-Me-Home System, is standard on all new RAV4 models, the VX’s system is fully integrated with the light control system. This allows the headlights to stay on just after the engine’s been switched off, so you’ve got enough light to navigate your path easily.
And there’s one really important safety feature standard on all models, the seven strategically placed airbags. These are: driver, front passenger, curtain shield, side and driver knee airbags.
Of course, the concrete jungle can be as daunting as the real one. Be reassured by a security system which includes an alarm, engine immobiliser, remote central locking and a power door lock. So your RAV4 stays where you left it.
