Many people in the family of God and in our community have been hit hard by the conditions of our economy. As we work to help people spiritually, we are also working to provide tools for long term success; However, in the short term, people are suffering and in need of assistance. If God has blessed you and He is sustaining you through these difficult times and you have a little extra beyond your regular tithes and offerings that you can give to the elder fund, you would honor God greatly if you did so. Even a little sacrifice makes a huge difference. Thanks for your compassion and prayerful consideration! We are working on new songs, new services, and lessons for students looking to step into the ministry. If you joined us for our "Fuel" service, we had a great time praising our Lord! We're praying that that service continues to grow. Fuel is based on prayer and music together, and what better way to spend an evening? These last few weeks it has been fun praising God for the heaven He has built for us. Just being able to sing "I can only imagine" is a moving experience for us as the mu- sic team, and we hope it got you all thinking how great our God is to send us His grace... So we can spend eternity with Him!! (How exciting!) Well, we've been work- ing on music and continue to thank you for support and prayers. Pointing and preparing each and every person for complete life in Jesus Christ

First of all I would like to thank those who responded the advertisement of helping with the Friends of Angels camp. It’s at the end of the month and I can’t wait. Check out the website at http://www.friendsofangels.org/foacamp.html for more information about the camp. As for our GLAD Kids program, we are having a blast joining the rest of children’s church service for their fun adventures. We are always looking for help to keep the kids focused or take them on a walk when needed. If you are interested, get a hold of Shawna Hale, [email protected], (909) 499-7185, or through the church. You could always just come check us out every Sunday morning, both services, in the fellowship hall. We’d love to meet ya.

God Bless, GLAD Kids & Shawna Hale

You are invited! Join us for a trip to the Huntington Library!

Wednesday, August 26th we will be going to Pasadena to visit the Huntington Library, famous for its art collection, document library, botanical gardens, and tea house! Admission is $15 for adults and $12 for sen-iors. In addition to a lovely tea room, there is a café for lunch. We will leave from the church at 9am and return around 6pm. Look for the sign up sheet in the Narthex.

We are really blessed to have Alison D’Spain in our family here at LifePoint Church. She is part of our Jr. High leadership team on Wednesday nights where she leads a group of 6th grade girls. She recently went to her first camp with us as a leader and did a phe-nomenal job. Alison really enjoys spending time with her girls and challenging them to live for Christ. She also helps regularly with small groups by providing childcare so that families can get in-volved and participate. She actively joins in with the Young Adult ministry, and is always willing to serve wherever needed. Alison is a great example of someone who is “Pointing and preparing each and every person toward complete life in Christ.” Way to go Alison!

His Kids Summer Adventure

To curious minds all over... The His Kids summer adventure has been

very busy. We have met in the Bayou at Crocodile Dock on Tuesday

nights and visited Laguna Beach. While at the Beach we walked on rocks

to explore all creatures left there by the tides, and we fought the

ferocious waves crashing on the beach just to stay cool. Then we visited

Fiesta Village and enjoyed some miniature golf and tackled their water

slides. There’s nothing the kids love better in the summer time than

water adventures. Praise the Lord for the opportunity to serve Him while enjoying the

precious smiles of His Kids. Parents, don’t forget to sign your children up for camp! We

leave August 3rd at 12:30pm and return August 6th at 1:30pm.

JUST FOR KIDS! “KIDS ADVENTURE”

This new adventure for kids (3 years old thru 5th grade) is for both hours (9:15 & 10:45am) on Sunday morn-

ings. Discover & experience bible stories, crafts, games, and

more! Don’t miss it!

WEEKEND… A 2-day event where

you will laugh, cry, and realize that you are not alone. Heartfelt, hilari-ous messages, gripping dramas, and amazing

music!

Seeing that we are back into our study of Acts, I thought it could be helpful to gain some important and interesting information about the book we are teaching and preaching.

♦ The “Acts of the Apostles” or better known as the book of Acts is the 2nd volume of a two part record of the Gospel of Luke and Acts. It was recorded on Papyrus rolls 35 to 40 feet long.

♦ The author of Acts is Luke, who was a physician, and accompanied Paul on his

missionary journeys. ♦ Both books are about the same length in material.

Luke is the longest book in the New Testament. Acts is the second longest book in the New Testament.

♦ Both books are written to the same person, Theophilus (which in Greek means

lover of God), which may have been a pseudo name for one person or a generic audience for Luke’s writings.

♦ Both books each cover around 30 years of history… the gospel of Luke starting

around 4 BC and ending around 30 AD. Acts picks up at about 30 AD and ends close to 60 or 62 AD.

♦ One of the unmistakable themes in both Luke/Acts is Salvation

*Salvation has been initiated and fulfilled by God. It is the culmination of all of history and prophetic promise. *Salvation has come by Jesus Christ. It is all about Jesus— He and He alone is the means God offers forgiveness and new life. *Salvation is offered to all peoples. No one is beyond the grace God offers. Jesus took his message to those sections of society whom were most despised, and the apostles took the gospel to the Gentiles. ♦ Acts is one of Pastor Max’s favorite books of the New Testament. Happy Learning, ~Pastor Max

Hello Everyone!

The summer is heating up but, that’s not going to stop us from having fun! Our Jr. High ministry enjoyed a week tent camping at Malibu Creek State Park. During the week they made two trips to Zuma Beach and one trip to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Water Park. The students and leaders were met by their camp speaker Isaac and his wife Angel, as well as 5 sixth grade girls from their church. In the middle of the week Isaac presented the gospel message to the students, and 2 girls from his group accepted Christ into their lives for the first time. Praise the Lord! The camp was a great success. All of the students had an awesome time and new friendships were made. Please continue praying for our Jr. High students, that the fire keeps burning. Our high school ministry has also been busy. Last month they hosted a pool party/BBQ that attracted nearly 40 students, and later a small group made a trip out to an Angel’s baseball game. This month on the 16th, they are going to Huntington Beach for the day and on the 21-23 they are making their second trip to Lake Havasu for summer camp. Check out the church website for more camp info and a printable flyer. I want to give a big thanks to our Jr. High camp staff: Cooks – Diana Todd & Jacob Niemi. Music – Megan Baldridge & Keenan Niemi (also our recreation leader). Counselors – Amy Crenshaw, Allison D’Spain, Bob Fugh & Matt Tryon. Also, to Gayle Dugan for letting us use her trailer and helping with camp registration. Without these awesome leaders, camp would not have been possible. Thank you to all who support the student ministries in so many ways. In His Love, Matt Todd
