Front cover image process
Deselect background
• First I am going to deselect the original brick wall background so that I have a blank canvas. This means that I am then able to add in images and use it as the background for the whole image.
Here I am using the deselect tool to remove the background.
Find image
• Once deselected the background, I am going to find an image to replace the brick wall.
Add background image
• Once I have found an image, I am going to make a new layer and place this image. I will then put this layer underneath the model so that it shows up.
Add shadow
• To make it more realistic, I am going to add a shadow onto the model by using the drop shadow option.
Darken face and arms
• To make the background stand out more I am going to make the model darker. According to feedback I received on the other images, the main concern was that the model was too bright and is losing his features. Therefore, by making him darker he won’t be losing anything and also look appropriate.
Finally,
• I am going to brighten up the background so that both the model and background contrast and it also stands out to the audience.
• I asked my target audience about the image and they said the brightness is appropriate and would definitely appeal to them as they prefer bright coloured magazines.
