Front Cover Screen Shots

Step One

The first picture is the initial image I took of the two models. Uploading this to Photoshop I placed it on an A4 paper. Using the Magic Selection Brush Tool I was able to instantly select the two model in the image and crop them from their background. Doing this allowed me to manipulate the background of the new image and so I placed a black background behind it with a silver/grey spotlight affect. This draws attention to the image and makes it stand out. This is much better than the original background and allows me to incorporate colours which will represent the Hip-Hop/R&B genre.

Step TwoI have added a Masthead to my Front cover and the ‘J’ falls slightly over my image, this creates a link between the two and makes the Masthead stand out. The use of a white outline on the Masthead helps it stand out from the background and be easily identifiable for the audience.I created a Main Cover line and added a tilted it to add edge to the front cover and stand out from surrounding cover lines. I placed additional cover lines around the image and Main Cover line, making sure to use a variety of sizes and switching between two font styles. It is important each cover line stands out from the other in order to grab the audiences attention. It also important these cover lines stick to the theme colours (Green/White/Black/Red) to keep a professional look.

Step ThreeAdding to the front cover I have included a sky line reading, ‘Hip-hop, R&B, Fashion and News’ this lets the audience know the main features which will be inside this magazine. At the bottom of the main image I placed a banner to present magazine features, next to this a placed a small image relating to this information giving readers something to look for when reading the magazine. I also added a flasher stating ’20 starts you follow on Twitter’ this another way of presenting information on my magazine in a way which stands out and will gain interest. I added the issue date and number of this magazine in a smaller font towards the top of the cover and the bar code. I have manipulate the barcode by rotating it and placing it towards the top. Again, I kept my sky line, banner and flasher to the theme colours.
