Pre-K will be busy getting ready for Thanksgiving. Our Frog Street Units
in November are about "Choices". We will be learning how to make good
choices, healthy choices, and problem solving. Literacy time will find us
learning to use oral language, phonological awareness, alliteration, and
vocabulary. Math time learning will include patterns, geometry, measure-
ment and time. We are thankful for our friends and for our families. Have
a wonderful Thanksgiving!
It's report card month! This is a friendly reminder that report cards have been pushed back to the 30th. Be
on the lookout for them! We hope everyone had a relaxing and fun Fall Break! Before the break we took our
field trip to the zoo and it was a huge hit! Thank you to those who volunteered to go with us. We couldn't
have done it without your support. Red Ribbon week is coming up this month. Please check your teacher's
weekly newsletter for the dress up days.
Can you believe we have already finished Unit 1 in our reading series?! In Unit 2 will focus on communities:
groups of people or animals that work and/or live together. We will be discussing community helpers, citi-
zenship and/or how to be a good citizen, and even a little about dinosaurs! We will also focus on learning
our long vowel sounds with the sneaky/silent "e" at the end.
Have you been practicing counting pennies and nickels? We have! Dimes are coming up next as well as tell-
ing time to the half hour. This comes and goes quickly in our math series! Please try to keep in mind...telling
time to the half hour and mixing coins are tough skills! Take this time to talk about one of our Great Expec-
tation Principles, Perseverance.

We cannot believe that November is already here! Kindergarten has lots of learning and
fun things planned for November. We will be participating in a Thanksgiving program in
each of our classrooms, so be on the lookout for more information. We will be reading
stories to learn our comprehension skills each week that have to do with Transportation.
We will continue to learn about and observe fall. We will also be studying about the his-
tory of our first Thanksgiving. Remember to keep practicing your sight words, tying your
shoes, and reading each day! Happy Fall!
It was so great to meet with our 2nd grade families for Parent/Teacher Conferences last month! Our 1st quarter report cards will be sent out Oct. 30
th and we are so proud of the effort each of our students are put-
ting forth in school! For November in Language Arts, our genre focus will be Animal Folk Tales and Animal Fantasy stories. We will be diving deeper into our Writing curriculum and working on paragraph structure. In Math we will look at using concrete models to develop the concepts of place value, telling time on digital and analog clocks to the quarter-hour, and identifying and counting money up to a twenty dollar bill. Government
and Early America will be our focus in Social Studies. In Science, we will be studying environments and habitats, as well as gearing up for our amazing Robot Project! Be on the look-out for detailed information to come home mid-month. This is always an exciting project for the students as they have the opportunity to
hone in on their creative and constructive skills!
Now that we are in the 2nd quarter, students have started Accelerated Reader! Thank you for encouraging your child to read, earn points, and meet their A.R. Goal! This is a great way for students to understand
what it means to be a self-motivated reader! We will reward our A.R. readers with a party at the end of the 9 weeks, right before the Winter break!
We hope everyone had an amazing Fall Break!
November is an exciting month in 4th grade. It brings the Explorer's Unit!! We have many fun activities
planned, and will end the unit with the Explorer's Feast on November 20th. Students will need to dress as the
explorer assigned to them the day of the feast. Information about the feast will go home soon.
We will be doing a biography study in reading. Students will be learning about Harry Houdini, Amelia Ear-
hart, The Wright Brothers, and Eleanor Roosevelt. They will also be reading and researching about presi-
dents. The students will be giving a speech over their assigned president.
In math, we will be working on map skills as part of the Explorer's Unit. We will also start diving into deci-
mals.
We are also continuing our Earth science study. We have several experiments planned to accompany this
unit.
Reminder* Please be checking our 4th grade website regularly to see what we our doing on a weekly basis,
along with other important information! https://sites.google.com/site/mrsmcfaddensmoviestars/

Hello Third Grade Families!
We hope everyone had a restful and relaxing fall break! Third graders are continuing to work hard and de-
velop many skills. We will be reading fantasies and folk tales during the month of November. We will prac-
tice identifying cause and effect relationships, plot and theme, and summarizing. We will be writing narrative
pieces, as well as conducting research on ants to create an informative writing piece. Math will focus on the
relationship between multiplication and division, as well as place value including decimals. We will begin to
learn about Oklahoma's early explorers, the early 1800's, and Native American Removal in Social Studies as
we prepare for our third grade field trip to the Oklahoma History Center, which will be in March. As always,
we appreciate your continued support in reading with your child each night, and please remind them that
the AR period ends on December 18th. We hope you have a great start to the holiday season!

Social Studies – This month we will be studying all about the 13 Original Colonies. We will com-
memorate Celebrate Freedom Week (Veteran’s Day) by memorizing the social contract selection
from the Declaration of Independence. We will also be holding 5th grade Colonial Day on November
24th. Be looking for more information coming home about this exciting event! Science – We are beginning our unit on energy and energy transfer and then moving on to Life Sci-
ence and our study of ecosystems and food chains! Math - We have just wrapped up our unit on decimal operations and now we are moving on to divi-
sion. Your student will learn how to divide up to four-digit dividends by two-digit divisors, interpret
remainders, and divide decimals.
Reading – This month we will be starting our first novel study on the book “Blood on the River.”
Frontier’s fall book fair was again a success! Thank you to all students, parents,
and teachers for shopping! Based on our sales total, we put 2,950 books into
the hands of our students. A portion of our sales came from the All for Books
coin donations. Congratulations purple pod for bringing in almost half of our
coins!! As a school, we raised over $1,800 in change! We bought books for
students at Frontier, and all teachers were given books to put in their class-
room libraries. Additionally, Scholastic is going to donate 1,800 books to kids
in two different charities. Thank you for helping to give kids access to reading!

PARENT PORTAL INFORMATION This year, a NEW student information system, Infinite Campus, will replace PIV. It will provide parents, guardians and students with real-
time access to course schedules, assignments, grades, attendance and report cards for grades 6-12.
If you have established a portal account, go to:
https://edmondschools.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/edmond.jsp
Setting up a Parent Portal account:
To set up a new account, parents/guardians will need to show up in person (with a photo ID) at the Frontier office. Parents/
guardians will then receive an email that will contain a link with instructions on how to set up a new portal account.
Once the account is set up, it will allow parents/guardians to utilize one login to see information on one or multiple children. Also new with this
product is the ability for parents/guardians to update their home phone number and email address as well as add non-household contacts. So it
is very important, once you set up your account, please verify and add to your student’s non-household contacts. This will advise the office on
who may pick up your student.
Mobile App Set Up After you have created a parent portal account, you will be able to install the mobile app to get information when you want it, anytime, any-
where from your IOS or Android Device.
Step-parents Step parents who are not court guardians with documentation on file at the school site, will not be able to access their step children’s infor-
mation. Accounts can only be set up for natural parents or legal guardians. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes your family and
deeply appreciate your understanding as we strive to protect the privacy of all students.
This year we are excited to be partnering with a fun, free, and truly easy fundraiser called Shoparoo!
Schools nationwide are already earning hundreds and even thousands every year through Shoparoo and it’s
a great opportunity for us to really make a difference this year!
Shoparoo is school fundraising made easy: the free app turns pictures of your everyday shopping receipts
into cash donations and sweepstakes entries for our school! Yep, it’s that simple. No more cutting labels, selling door to door, or time-consuming coordinating. All you have to do is shop as you normally do, snap
pictures of your receipts with the app, and voila Just shop, snap, earn!
Get started today:
1. Download the free Shoparoo app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
2. Select our school from the list and start taking pictures of your receipts - shop anywhere, buy anything!
3. Earn even more Roo Points, or cash donations, by inviting others to join using your personal referral
code
4. You can even select a grade to support and have fun with grade competitions!
There’s no limit to how much money we can raise with Shoparoo - the more supporters, the more we will
raise for our school. Schools with just 40 supporters are earning an average of $1,000 every year. That’s
free, easy money that we could be fundraising too. Check out shoparoo.com to learn more about this
awesome app!
Thank you for your support!
