Prefabrication for fittings up to d1200The new WM 1200 Plus, a hydraulic butt fusion machine for prefabrication of PE and
PP fittings, is ready for sale. The capability of making T, X, Y segmented fittings up to
d1200 goes beyond the limit of d900 of the currently available WM 1200.

Prefabricated ceiling cooling systemThe CeilKlima line, a prefabricated
ceiling heating and cooling system
offered in the Italian market, is now
internationally available. It provides high
comfort, high efficiency and low thermal
inertia. It consists of a plasterboard
panel (15 mm thick) with EPS insulation
layer (30 mm thick) in the top which can
be easily and quickly connected to the
distribution system via push fittings.
Modification of JRGUMAT 3400A modification project for
JRGUMAT 3400 has been
conducted. The
dimensions DN20
up to DN50 will
be adapted to the
same principle like
JRGUMAT 3410 (DN 65
and 80). It means that the red sleeve
from the circulation inlet is removed and
consequently the cold water seat will not
be drilled anymore.

A further increase in performanceAnnual Report 2016 published GF has developed itself in 2016 fully in line with its strategic objectives
2016–2020. Sales and profits increased again and all three divisions (GF
Piping Systems, GF Automotive and GF Machining Solutions) generated
value.
• Sales increased 3% to CHF 3’744 million
• Operating result up 5% to CHF 311 million
• Earnings per share reached CHF 53, up 15%
• Dividend increase proposed to CHF 20, up from CHF 18
• High free cash flow before acquisitions, up 22%
The Corporation has increased its sales by 3% to CHF 3’744 million. In
local currencies and adjusted for acquisitions and divestments, turnover
growth amounted to 2%. The operating result (EBIT) rose to CHF 311
million, up 5% compared to previous year. This resulted in an EBIT margin
(ROS) of 8.3% against 8.1% in 2015. The return on invested capital (ROIC)
increased to 19.3%, up from 18.9% in 2015. All three divisions generated
ROICs well above their cost of capital, thus creating a high amount of value
for the company.
Net profit amounted to CHF 225 million, 14% above previous year,
resulting in earnings per share of CHF 53 against CHF 46 in 2015. Free
cash flow before acquisitions and divestments reached CHF 231 million,
clearly above the already high level of the previous year (CHF 190 million).
Based on the above, the Board of Directors proposes to the Annual
Shareholders’ Meeting a dividend of CHF 20 per share (CHF 18 in 2016).

Waga: Allrounder for difficult connections
Repairing a broken cast iron pipe During construction works in Perk, a village
in Belgium, an excavator broke a cast iron pipe DN450, flooding a village with
60.000 m³ water and causing severe damage to nearby buildings. Water Utility
‘De Watergroep’ contracted Visser & Smit Hanab for the installation of the
MULTI/JOINT® 3000 Plus DN450 couplings.
The challenge the installation company faced was a restraint repair between
the existing ductile iron pipe and the newly installed ductile iron pipe. To make
this repair possible our DN450 MULTI/JOINT® 3000 Plus coupling was used.

making the connection was
very easy. An added advan-
tage of our fitting is that it is
end load restraint. Making
the use of thrust blocks and
other anchoring material no
longer necessary and ensur-
ing a quick, safe and simple
installation.

The city of Roosendaal
(Netherlands) decided
to replace the existing
Asbestos Cement pipe which
reached its life expectancy.
Leakages were found in the
past year which led to the
decision to renovate and replace the
Asbestos Cement pipe with PE pipe.
The challenge the installation company Rombouts Kunststof Techniek
B.V. faced was a restraint connection between the Asbestos Cement pipe
and the newly installed PE SDR 17 pipe. As trees were growing above the
old Asbestos Cement pipe, the new PE pipe was installed three metres
besides the Asbestos Cement pipe. To connect the two pipes, an angular
deflection had to be overcome. To make this connection possible our
DN500 x DN450 MULTI/JOINT® 3107 Plus reduced coupling was supplied by
Conval Nederland B.V. Thanks to the one size fits and grips all principle, the
connection was made very easily.
