continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith,

your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our

gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy

Spirit and with deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.

it, 9for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell

how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10and to

wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who

rescues us from the coming wrath.

Agape: describes the attitude of God toward his Son and his people. Christian love is not an impulse of feeling; it does not always run with natural inclinations, nor does it spend itself only on those for whom some affinity is discovered. Love seeks the welfare of all and works no ill to any. When used of God, it expresses a deep and constant love, and interest of a perfect Being towards entirely unworthy objects.
