Intro

Climate change continues to be a big problem through-out our world. Things such as burning fossil fuels, deforestation, and pollution in our oceans have direct impacts on our climate. These are also all problems we humans have created and I intend to prove it.In the following power point, I will prove that climate change is a direct result of us humans. Things such as driving non-electric cars or burning coal for electricity release CO2 into our atmosphere which in turn, trap heat making our planet warmer.

Graph Showing Carbon Dioxide Levels in the atmosphere• On my graph, the “X” axis represents the years before today.

The “Y” axis represents the CO2 parts per million. The CO2 levels have varied over the past years. Up until 1950, (650,000 years) CO2 levels have never gotten above 300 CO2 parts per million. The current level today is about 380 parts per million.

Table/Charts/Stats

Explanation of Charts on Climate Change• In the first chart, green represents the countries that agree that global

warming is a direct result of us humans. Grey is the people who don’t know and red is the people who disagree. • According to these charts, humans are mainly to blame for global

warming or climate change. One chart states that “97 out of 100 climate experts agree that humans are responsible for global warming. • Another chart shows surveys from countries around the World. Most

countries voted that we are to blame for the climate change.• The last chart shows how temps. have varied in different places around

our World.

• 1712- First steam engine is invented by Thomas Newcomen

• 1824- The idea of the greenhouse effect is proposed by French physicist Joseph Fourier

• 1886- Karl Benz invents the first true automobile

• 1927- The burning of fossil fuels reaches one billion tons per year

• 1965- The US Presidential committee states that Climate Change is of real concern

• 1989- CO2 levels reach six billion tons per year

• 1990- First report on the affects of climate change is created

• 1997- Developed Nations agree to reduce emissions by and average of 5% depending on the country

• 1998- Warmest year on record

• 2008- CO2 levels reach eight billion tons per year

Compare/Contrast Global Warming & Climate Change

Global Warming• Result of burning fossil fuels • Melting the artic• Pollution

Climate Change• Result of burning fossil fuels • Deforestation • Melting of the artic• Pollution

Cause and Effect

Cause • Burning fossil fuels • Pollution • Deforestation

Effect• Less CO2 is absorbed through plants/trees• Global warming • Elevated oceans • The artic is melting • Warmer climates

Solution

• We can cut down on burning fossil fuels so there is not as much CO2 getting trapped in our atmosphere. We could also stop cutting down trees so more of the CO2 can be absorbed and turned into oxygen. Another thing we could do is stop polluting our Earth. These are all things we can do to help climate change.
