Contractors can select either a 24 or 36,000 BTU

outdoor unit combined with 9,000, 12,000 or 18,000

BTU wall mounted, compact cassette or concealed

ceiling type indoor units. Create 110 different systems

with only 11 components. Mix-and-match flexibility of

evaporator type and capacity allows you to choose theindoor unit that best fits the application, whether it be

hidden or showcased. These systems are ideal for

nursing homes, doctor's offices, condominiums,

apartments and residences - any place where individual

Proper sizing and installation of equipment is critical to achieve optimal performance. Split system air conditioners and heat pumps must be matched with appropriate coil components to meet ENERGY STAR criteria.

Ask your contractor for details or visit www.energystar.gov. The 9+9 wall mounted dual zone combination is the only model that is ENERGY STAR Qualified from the multi-zone line.

This guide shows examples of typical duct layouts and sizing that can be used with Fujitsu Concealed Ceiling Type Units

Static pressure loss calculations and duct fitting types are based on ACCA

Residential Duct Systems Manual D (Air Conditioning Contractors of America).

Layouts are designed to limit duct system static pressure loss to 0.16 in. w.c.

or less (including fittings and filters).

Available CFM at the maximum static pressure loss of 0.16 in. w.c. is listed in

the Duct Sizing Chart by model.

To use the Duct Sizing Chart:

1. Locate the column with the desired Model Number and Plan Layout (Plan A, Plan B, Plan C).

2. Fitting number in the Ref # column (ex. Ref # 2) corresponds to the number on the duct layouts below.

3. Fittings used in your installation should be as shown in the Duct Fittings section on Page 6.

4. Fitting types (ex. 4-AB), found on Page 6 are listed in each column on Duct Sizing Chart in Rows 2 - 6.

5. The duct section letter (ex. A) in the Ref # column corresponds to the letter on the duct layout below.

6. Duct sizes and allowable lengths are listed in the Rows A - E for each Model and Plan.

7. The duct size should be as indicated in the chart.

8. The duct length should not exceed the length listed in the chart.9. Reducing duct sizes or increasing duct lengths from chart values may result in lack of airflow and capacity.

Transitions from rectangular unit inlet and outlet to round duct (12C & 12L) are based on a maximum equivalent length (EL) of 20 for

the return (Diverging) and 10 for the supply (Converging). Transitions are available as an accessory from Fujitsu. See Page 6.

The duct layouts below include a single return air filter grille. Examples are based on using 1" fiberglass filters (rated at .07 in. w.c.

pressure loss @ 300 FPM). Filter face velocities were selected to limit the static pressure loss. See the Duct Sizing Chart for filter

velocities for various models. Filter grilles should be selected with a filter face area equivalent to the filter sizes listed in the chart. It

may be possible to use 1" pleated filters if the face velocity is reduced to 150 FPM or less. Using the layouts below, the combined

pressure loss of the filter and grille cannot exceed .07 in. w.c. for the ARU9 and 18 and .056 in. w.c. for the ARU12 at design CFM.
