CRITICAL ACCLAIM FOR 201512 April 2015, Brahms German Requiem, Canteloube Songs of the AuvergneIn Brahms’ German Requiem there were goose bumps tonight on more than one occasion, with Paczian conducting without a score. The choral movements were impressive. Fugal writing was crisply encountered, with choristers and orchestra bringing the work to a spine-tingling conclusion.Seven popular Canteloube settings proved a welcome bonus, especially when delivered with such panache and authority by Patricia Wright.

14 June 2015, Rachmaninov The Liturgy of St John ChrysostomCongratulations on a wonderful Rachmaninov concert which was thrilling, fulfilling and uplifting. In addition to Bach Musica NZ’s usual precision and tonal quality, they achieved a real ‘Russian’ sound, as I once heard in St Petersburg. The basses sounded at times with their ultra low notes somewhat like the lower diapason pedal notes. How rewarding that it was so well attended too!
