What type of student do we see in the OC?

New Students who are in their 1st or 2nd term at PCC

• Students needing to complete their new student orientation

• 1st time college students who have completed their placement tests and need advising

• New students requiring help setting up and navigating their MyPCC account and registering for classes

• New students requiring help registering for classes or checking their financial aid status

• New Students unsure of what support services and resources PCC has to offer, or how to access them.

Click on Student Tab

Sometimes students need to see what their week of classes looks like. Useful for planningstudy time and non-class activities

Click on “Week at aGlance”

Shows courses by hour and day of the week in a dayplanner format

If a course does not show up on the Week at a Glance format it may be a late starting course. Change the date to the week the course starts and click submit

WHAT IS GRAD PLAN?

Graduation Requirements & Academic Decisions Plan

• to track progress towards completing degree requirements and to plan future coursework

• to complete “What If” scenarios for different degrees

• to reduce paperwork and manual degree checklists by using the online environment

• to calculate grade point averages

First click on the “my courses” tab

Then click on “login to GRAD Plan”

Accessing the GRAD Plan

ADVISING VS. COUNSELINGAdvisors help students throughout their time at

PCC. They assist with academic planning, transfer advising, degree requirements, and academic problem solving.

Counselors help students with academic, personal, and career counseling, as well as learning difficulties, and crisis intervention. Counselors can assist students with study skills, test anxiety, career and life planning, stress management and locating community resources.

• help choosing a degree program at PCC or another college or university

• short and long-term academic planning

• interpretation of test scores and transcripts from other colleges

• transfer requirements, registration procedures, and class scheduling

• referrals to other college and community resources

• questions about college policies, teacher expectations, and extra-curricular activities.

CTE PROGRAM ADVISING

Students who have been accepted into a Career

Technical program or who have questions about

Career Technical degrees and certificates

should be referred to a CTE program advisor

• assessing their skills, interests and values
