1.1 11 KZN Imams graduated from the Young Leaders Academy - 21 October.
1.2 Eastern Cape Imams attended a Mini Retreat in Je�reys Bay with the EC Manager Sheikh Mogammad Ariefdien and the National Manager of the IDP, Sheikh Bilal Ismail - 21/22 October.
1.3 JHB Imams attended a team building Paintball session in Boksburg, Gauteng – 22 October.
1.4 Western Cape Imams participated in an Emotional Intelligence facilitation workshop, “Brains for Communication” – 21 October.
1.5 Mpumalanga Imams attended a Smartphone, App and Social Media training session – 21 October.
1.6 Western Cape Imams attended the Annual Mercy Mission Summit in Tulbagh, which was attended by the Heads of the International Mercy Mission projects. Sheikh Dr. Tawfique Chowdhury handed over laptops to our newest Imams and awards to Imam Yunus Sanudi and Imam Abdul Rashid Ndlovu for Outstanding Perserverance.
1.7 Eastern Cape Imams initiated a “Thursday Night Blitz” – Inspirational evenings with short talks on thought provoking topics – 7 November.
1.8 KZN Imams participated in a Madrassah Syllabus workshop– 12 November.

1.9 Western Cape Imams attended a Strategy Meeting with Sheikh Muhammad West, setting the agenda for 2018 – 26 November.
1.10 Imams attended the AlKauthar Institute Course “Surah Kahf” – 18/19 November.
1.11 Imams from Gauteng and Mpumalanga were presented with laptops – 18/19 November.
1.12 The IDP facilitated for 18 Imams across 5 Provinces to perform Umrah 16 – 27 November.
1.13 Western Cape Imams attended the AlKauthar Institute course “Out of Sight” – 9 December.
1.14 Port Elizabeth Imams organized a overnight Youth excursion with Madrassah students to George. – 15 December.
1.15 IDP Imams from Western Cape and the youth of their community, in partnership with Boorhanol Islam Movement, took part in the Boorhanol Summer Youth Dowrah Program – 18 December.
1.16 The IDP assisted a sterling Cape Town Imam, Moulana Rameez Arends, in raising R53 353 for Madrassah Zaytun Abbas to take 11 students for Umrah in 2018. Moulana Rameez performed Umrah with the IDP in 2016 and made a firm intention to take his students on the journey of their heart. November.

Q.1. What is the Imam Development Project?A.1. The Imam Development Project aims to assist currently employed Imams and Religious leaders to empower, develop and refine their skills. Q.2. Why the need for an Imam Development Project?A.2. Many complain about Imams and many Imams complain about their state. All agree on the importance of the Imam but very few try to remedy the situation.The Imam is supposed to be a confident, strong, passionate individual but unfortunately due to circumstances the Imam is usually underpaid, undeveloped, overworked and lacking in passion.The IDP aims to assist them financially as well as providing medical, educational, training, clothing, media and counseling assistance. Q.3. How does the Imam Development Project aim to develop Imams?A.3. The IDP will provide a package to Imams according to performance. Imams are either placed in Silver, Gold or Platinum tier and receive a monthly stipend according to the tier in which they fall.The IDP will also provide financial, medical, educational, training, clothing, media and counseling assistance to the Imams.
Q.4. Will the IDP be hiring Imams?A.4. No, the IDP will only assist currently employed Imams with a Top Up Package.
Q.5. What are the criteria for selection?A.5. Imams will have to fill in an application form, an Indemnity form of employer and provide letters of recommendation.We will then interview the applicant and then make our selection.Some of the criteria that we consider:Age | Level of Education | Salary | Realm of influence | Speaking ability | Passion Q.6.
