FUNCTIONAL WEAR SERIES – PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Personal protective equipment (PPE) offers specially designed protection to people who wear or use it, against various types of safety hazard. It is classified into three categories based on the level of protection it offers. Garments, gloves and footwear are common items of PPE which fulfil the protective needs in different industries and sectors.
PPE is controlled by different standards in different markets. Most PPE products are subject to mandatory testing before sale to the public.
For all PPE to be sold in the European Union, the CE mark must be attached to the product to prove that the equipment complies with harmonised standards listed by the European Commission. SGS provides internationally accredited testing services and CE mark examinations, according to the up-to-date PPE standard.
