Why usE A FuNCtioN imPRovER?Function improvers are often present in branded fuels / oils, but in many cases not in a sufficient quality and quantity.
Why can fuels and engine oils cause problems?
Fuel qualities can vary strongly
Poor age-resistant biofuels are used more often The fuel is partially exposed to long standing times Extreme operating conditions exist such as high temperatures or city traffic
The service intervals are lengthened ingreasingly Unsuitable engine oils can damage the fuel system
Clean combustion ensures less fuel consumption
During the combustion process, very fine particles are formed in the engine
which can settle at various places in the fuel system. This leads to increased fuel consumption, higher soot emissions, more pollutants and a general impairment of the engine power output. Wrth Function Improvers remove existing deposits, protect the fuel circuit from establishing new ones and optimise the combustion. At the bottom line this means: less repair costs, less fuel consumption, higher operational reliability, better environmental protection and more engine power output.
3FuELRANGE AFtERmARkEt-PRoGRAm
FuELDeposits in the fuel system are the decisive topic for both petrol and diesel fuels. Dispersants in the Wrth Function Improvers act as a fuel soluble tenside and ensure cleanliness in the combustion chamber and on the injection valves. They detach deposits and prevent them from accumulating again.
Petrol: The octane number / pinking: Pinking occurs in spark-ignition combustion engines when the fuel/air mixture in the cylinder is not ignited by the spark plug but instead through self-ignition in pockets outside the normal combustion front. The fuel/air mixture should be exclusively ignited by the spark plug at a precisely defined point in time in the operating cycle. With self-ignition the
maximum combustion pressure does not occur at the optimal point in time for a four-stroke engine anymore. The octane number prevails for this property of the fuel. In case of petrol the Octane Booster can increase the octane number on the basis of non-poisonous, organic ethers. These components are contained in the Wrth Function Improvers, in the Octane Booster in a concentrated composition.
Diesel: The cetane number / knocking: Cetane Booster based on organic nitrate provides for a smoother engine and can reduce the fuel consumption. This value can be increased with the addition of a Wrth Function Improver. Oxidation stability: Whereas in the past and for older engines an emulsifying effect of the fuel injections to remove water off the tank was preferred,
nowadays a demulsifying effect is required. If the diesel fuel dissolves a high
percentage of water, the pressure existing in the engine can cause damage through cavitation. Lubrication: Diesel function improvers increase the lubricity of the engine and prevent attrition. This is particularly important for modern common-rail-diesel engines.
4 FuELRANGE AFtERmARkEt-PRoGRAm
BiodiEsELBiodiesel: Bacteria: Great problems with storing biodiesel! A trial conducted by the University of Oldenburg researched the long-term storage behaviour of pure rapeseed oil methyl ester as well as for different mixtures of conventional
diesel fuel and biodiesel. The project investigated the growth of naturally occurring micro-organisms which are able to use certain components of the fuel as a nutrient. With storage temperatures of 25C an addition of small concentrated rapeseed oil methyl ester can already lead to a dramatic increase of bacterial count. Oxidation stability: Antioxidants can positively influence the ageing stability of fuels particularly for biodiesel fuels. Compatibility of the function improvers with biodiesel: Through an increased application of biodiesel, even in standard diesel fuels, standard agents are no longer qualified for use. The Wrth Function Improver Diesel was also
developed for diesel fuels with a high percentage of biodiesel. Bio-ethanol: Compatibility of the function improvers with E10: In case of suspectible automobiles the increased percentage of bio-ethanol can cause to corrosion. Tis concerns primarily the aluminium parts in an engine. At the same time fuel lines, seals, other rubber and plastic parts can rapidly become porous. The new Wrth Function Improvers are compatible with E10 and protect the fuel system from corrsion.
5FuELRANGE AFtERmARkEt-PRoGRAm
GAsIs it really necessary to use dedicated products for gas-
propelled vehicles?
Yes, because the higher pressures in the throttle operation can cause damage in the area of the valve seats. Wrth Function Improvers protect strongly punished parts from these damages, prevent against engine damages and therefore ensure a problem-free operation of gas-propelled vehicles. CNG = Compressed Natural Gas = natural gas LPG = Liquified Petroleum Gas = automobile gas Depending on the market the gas quality can vary. The Wrth Function
Improver LPG therefore contains a cleaning agent which helps to keep the injectors clean.
oiL FuNCtioN imPRovERFor less attrition and a longer service life of the engine! Due tue friction for every driven kilometre, very fine particles from the engine
remain. The Wrth attrition function improvers ensure, that the attrition strinkingly decreases. Engine oil function improvers are added directly into the oil filler opening of the engine and clean the system or reduce the friction.
Clean engines perform better and consume less fuel.
Dispersants / detergents stabilise dirt particles in the engine oil Antioxidants prevent accumulation of ageing products Offer protection against corrosion
Contain an alkali reserve to protect against acid ageing products Offer wear protection, also under the most extreme operating conditions
OMC2-Technology. Advantages of the OMC2-Technology: Improved lubricating film
Reduced thermal loading Less friction (up to 50% in
mixed friction area) Reduced loss of substance Reduced wearing Longer service life
OMC2-Technology saves
money for you!

and clean cooling system Neutralises calcium residues The new coolant is protected from fouling by the old
dirt residues A highly effective tenside mixture, compatible with
anti freeze agent Removes and binds oil and grease-containing
residues
Areas of application / use In case of fouling of the cooling system after engine
repairs such as oil residues in the cooling system due to cylinder head damage
In case of deposits in the cooling circuit Usable as a preventive measure for every change of
coolant
ApplicationAdd content of can to the coolant. Open the heating valves. Allow the engine to run at operating temperature for about 30 minutes. The deposits released by the coolant cleaner necessarily need to be flushed away.
The flushing process takes place without removing
the thermostat. It is recommended to replace parts
rADIATOr CleANer AND CONDITIONer
attacked by oil entering their area such as the coolant expansion reservoir and water hoses. After cleaning the cooling system fill it up again, vent air and check for
leaktightness.
Dosage250 ml is adequate for 10 litres of coolant, 1'000 ml is
adequate for 40 litres of coolant.

Data / calculations
In an older vehicle use of function improvers can lead to average savings on fuel of about 3%. Therefore with a consumption of 8 litres/100 km, 2.4 litres every 1'000 km can be saved. It is not only petrol which is saved but also CO2. 1 litre of petrol produces 2.33 kg of CO2 and 1 litre of diesel produces 2.64 kg of CO2. Over a distance of 1'000 km for vehicles running on petrol this means a saving on CO2 emission of about 7 kg.
Furthermore use of function improvers increases the service life of the fuel system and the individual parts. For example a set of new injectors cost a few hundreds of Euros while a new particulate filter costs
at least 1'000 Euro. Use of function improvers has a preventative effect to prevent such damage occurring.

ENviRoNmENtAL PRotECtioNEnvironmental protection means already thinking today about
tomorrow. Wrth as a global player, market and innovation leader in the range of assembly technology is fully aware of the responsibility and adduces as an instance. Also the Wrth fuel and function improver program has been designed to meet the demands of tomorrow.
That means:
Function improvers make a major contribution to reduce pollutant emissions and to make savings in fuel and oil where the packaging was exclusively chosen to be recyclable containers. Tin plate packagings have a recycling quote of over 89% since they can easily be separated from other waste
due to their magnetic property. After appropriate further processing the tin plate waste passes on again to the manufacturing processes for steel. Every kilogram of reused tin plate saves two kilograms of CO2 emissions. Within a year it is possible to save 4.7 million tonnes of CO2, as much as a large city in Germany with a population in excess of 400'000. This all shows that environmental protection is an active acknowledgement to take responsibility to protect our planet today as well as tomorrow.
