This overview will provide a look at some of the current academic advising tools available for students in the new Student Information System.
After logging in at student.msu.edu and completing the necessary first-time login activities, students will see a dashboard of tiles to access the tools in SIS. Many of the functions outlined are available in the “Academic Progress” tile which will show a
student’s major, GPA and a pie chart of degree progress.
Over the course of th is academic year, addit ional activities and academ ic tools w ill be found in the Student Inform ation System.
Functionality w ill be phased over time, so you may need to use existing systems to complete some activities.
Important Note:
For seniors graduating in Spring or Summer 2021, if you notice a discrepancy in your data between new SIS and Degree Navigator f!:'. Please contact your advisor.
We are moving your Degree Navigator substitutions to SIS, therefore you may temporarily see d iscrepancies between the two systems. Please contact your academic advisor if you have questions.

Academic Progress Tile Landing Page
After clicking on the Academic Progress tile, students will see a landing page with information about the transition to SIS. All the tiles on a student’s dashboard have a landing page to orient the user as they learn the new system. Also of note is the
left navigation menu, where students can make selections to access various resources.

Students can find their Planner in the left navigation after click on the “Classes” tile from their home page. The Planner tool in SIS helps students plot out multi-year course plans to keep track of requirements and time to degree. They can plan these
