Why do we need to raise Restricted and Unrestricted Funds?

• Answers:

– The government only provides funding to SUFFICIENCY.

– U. S. Naval Academy Alumni, Midshipmen and Parents desire EXCELLENCE.

– Do you want the U.S. Naval Academy to look like the Norfolk Naval Station or the U.S. Naval Academy?

– Do you want the Ogle Hall (Alumni House) to look like an old historic building falling into disrepair or a Historic Flagship Building for the Alumni Association of USNA symbolic of EXCELLENCE?

4

Why do we need to raise Restricted and Unrestricted Funds?(Continued)

• Fundraising is the DELTA that turns sufficiency into the MARGIN of EXCELLENCE!!! You are the DELTA!!!! Be a member of the team who supports EXCELLENCE by contributing within your means.

• Class of 1970 has 120 loyal givers who have doing the contribution heavy lifting over the years. Are you one of these 120 classmates? If not, now is the time to become an energized participant. There are also heavy lifters who give of their time, i.e, your Reunion Committee, Class Fundraiser, Class Officers, and members of the Board of Trustees.

• PARTICIPATION has been and will continue to be the key to successful fundraising.

• The point is not how much you contribute, but that you contribute within your means to the project or activity of your choice. We are at a place in our lives where we can look back on out time at USNA and realize what a tremendous impact it has had on each of us. When we do so, our decision to give back becomes a simple one.

• We are Alumni of the premier leadership development institution in the world. The extremely successful current campaign is appropriately named, Leaders to Serve the Nation. We serve the nation in both the military and civilian sectors with our leadership.

* Percentage of Participation is defined as the number of reachable donors, i.e., those that can be physically solicited.
