RicaRicardo Sanhá’s Foundation main objective is to provide aid to Guineans patients. The Foundation re-structured its action plan to apply it on a short, medium and long term, in order to respond to its pa-tient’s needs. So far, the Foundation has welcomed patients in Portuguese ground, with the purpose of providing them with a place to stay during their recovery, having in mind the lack of the health care they need and don’t exist in Guinea. Strategic reorientation is a result of the Foundation’s vision for the country, which believes in the exponential improvement of the provided care and the concern and provision of human’s health conditions. Being far from their families and from their country, along with the suffer-ing associated to their illness, these are factors that have psychological consequences for Guineans, and high financial costs to Ricardo Sanhá’s Foundation. On this basis, finding and implementing a solution to all the factors identified above has been the oper-ational engine of the Foundation. Solidariedade Móvel’s project is born of the entrepreneurial spirit of all its members, as well as of their strong determination in providing Guineans patients with the access to health care in medicine areas considered of vital importance. The project is based on medical mis-sions send to Bissau, whose participants will be doctors and assistants, experts on several specialties. Patients will have medical appointments on cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, internal medicine, gastgastroenterology, otorhinolaryngology, urology, nephrology, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, gy-necology obstetrics, pediatrics, cardiology, ophthalmology, maxillofacial surgery and pediatric surgery. The general purpose of this project’s development is the reduction of the Guineans dependency on for-eign health platforms.

The specific objective of the pThe specific objective of the project 'Mobile Solidarity' is adapted according to chronological events. Be-tween 2013 and 2015, the Foundation Ricardo Sanhá want to move six times a year, five doctors and five assistants to Guinea-Bissau. The base platform in terms of goals, is the realization of one hundred (100) consultations during the fifteen days of stay per mission, per doctor. Thus, the Foundation intends to hold a total of 3,000 consultations per year during the stated period. Within two years (between 2016 and 2017), the Foundation Ricardo Sanhá proposes to conduct twelve (12) missions per year. The actions neThe actions necessary to develop the project implementation stratify into different sections: identifying pathologies and main valences to associate each mission, establishing liaison with local doctors - as a way to optimize the treatment process in each mission- (for valence), the choice of the medical team that will be the hub to integrate the missions, the programming of each movement as well as the con-sultation of patients Guineans. The expected result of the development of these actions is to reduce the burden Foundation Ricardo Sanha, as well as the allocation of Guinea-Bissau of the technical and qualified in terms internal to the training of the challenges in terms of health, found by residents .In conclusion, the project 'Mobile Solidarity' assumes a sharp in the development of a tool to support human health concerns as well as the development of Guinea as a country able to meet the needs of the people, by the financial support the same is covered not only in social areas, such as the nature of modernization and progress.

Being the Being the Foundation’s main goal to develop an integrated intervention, it is a defined objective to create a reception center, in order to ensure the necessary conditions for habitability of patients during the treatment and medical monitoring in Bissau. Until this stage, the Foundation has welcomed pa-tients in Portugal, providing them with all the health care to which they don’t have access in Guin-ea-Bissau. This reception center aims to complement all valences that will be developed by the foun-dation . The design of this project is in response to the needs identified by the Foundation itself, the level of care and treatment of patients. The Foundation, through this reception center, aims to give support to patients in Bissau during the treatment phase, providing them with all the conditions and equipment required for the correct devel-opment of this activity. The Foundation aims to help the provincial populations, who are a major con-cern. The contingencies associated with the fact that, currently, patients spend long periods outside their country of origin, brings sometimes psychological consequences to the patients, as well as large financial burden for the Foundation. With that being said, the reception center is a latent need in the activity that the Foundation aims to develop, which is to promote an improvement in health conditions in Guinea. The aim is thus to contribute to improving the welfare and quality of life, bearing in mind the contin-gencies associated with each disease. We also want to ensure all essential health care (food, clothing, hygiene, etc.).. play and recreational activities, such as active integration phase of the treatment pro-cess, will also be part of the action plan. The purpose of developing this center is, in the first place, to complement the Guinean health care system, thereby reducing its dependence on foreign aid, contributing to the development of treatments in the area, thus giving an effective response to the needs that are currently created in healthcare. What is expected with this project is to support the Guinean health service in the area of treatment of different valences, responding to the needs of the population, modernizing and innovating in this area.

The The construction and subsequent maintenance of a reception center in the city of Bissau is particularly important in order to provide citizens from the provinces, reception and treatment conditions which, until now, were only held outside the country. This way, it is also possible to achieve a greater approach and monitoring between the family members and the patients. We can claim that the projection that the Foundation wants to give this project is quite extensive, not only in relation to the beneficiaries, but also in relation to the social development that is expected.IIn general, the main Foundation intents are to reduce dependence on foreign countries in relation to the areas mentioned above, by providing to people the necessary technical skills in specific areas where currently there is no capacity to respond to the needs of the population. Within this principle, this pro-ject represents another step in the country's autonomy in relation to foster care and treatment ren-dered to the population.Specifically, it is intended to make the building, from scratch, with an infrastructure of 5000-6000 m2 , with capacity to host and monitor patients. The Foundation aims to empower the center with 25 double rooms (totaling 50 beds in total, with a bathroom for every two beds). There will be also, as part of the center, several divisions in order to structure the care and treatments, namely:- Recovery Room / maintenance therapy;- Dining room, recreation room and living room, activities;- Treatment room;- Laundr- Laundry, kitchen, pantry;- Medical appointments with pharmacy;- Room monitor and ventilator care. The centre will also have all the equipment necessary to equip the various divisions (with oxygen mask, defibrillators, and equipment for rapid intubation). The human resources required will be three assistants, a full-time nurse per shift and a doctor.

HHaving in mind the deficit of health care provided to the Guinean, Ricardo’s Sanhá Foundation, respect-ing its statutory objects, has the objective of developing the project ‘Clínica Guiné’. This action embodies the identified need to increase the technical levels of health care in Guinea. The overtime evacuation expenses, until now supported by the Foundation, are superior to the ones (in long term) channeled to the construction and implementation of the ‘Clínica Guiné’, being the location Bissau. On this basis, the project intends to suppress the health care needs of the Guinean, more specifically on filling the gaps identified in identified in certain fulcral medicine areas, directed to specific illnesses. The cirurgy rooms are very few and it is necessary to prepare the local doctors for procedures of greater importance. Apart from these aspects, it is also noted that, in Guinea, the reasons for non-use of the health service, in percentage, divide as the following numbers: 4.7% because they believe it is too expensive, 3.9% because they think it is too far away and 90.8% because they believe it is unnecessary (INEC data - National Institute of Statistics and Census Bureau and the Ministry of Economy and Finance). These numbers refer to the pprovinces population, reflecting the segment that the Foundation wants to reach. The values discrimi-nated before reflect the urgent need that the Guinean population has, in terms of access to quality medical and surgical care, as well as the change in the psychological element. Guineans still believe in the concept of healer and give minor attention to the health care associated benefits. As an example there’s what happened in Angola before the construction of the ‘Clínica Girassol’: the number of people awaiting for a heart surgery was large, and there was not a health infrastructure that could complement the Josina Machel’s Hospital. The construction and development of the ‘Clínica Gi-rassol’ allowed to erase the need of sending those patients to foreign countries in order to undergo the necessary interventions. These evacuations represented a large financial burden on the Angolan public finances and a difficult journey for the patients.
