Michael Faraday’s Law of Electromagnetic Induction-1
In 1831, Michael Faraday, an English physicist gave one of the most basic laws of electromagnetism called Faraday's law of
electromagnetic induction. This law explains the working principle of most of the
electrical motors, generators, electrical transformers and inductors . This
law shows the relationship between electric circuit and magnetic field.

Michael Faraday’s Law of Electromagnetic Induction-2Faraday performs an experiment with a
magnet and coil. During this experiment, he found how emf is induced in the coil when flux linked with it changes.
In other words, one can say that an emf is induced in a conductor when there is relative motion between the conductor and the magnetic field (lines of force).

Michael Faraday’s Law of Electromagnetic Induction-3By way of relative motion, we mean either
the conductor should move to cut the magnetic circuit (lines of force) or vice versa.
In principle, the direction of the induced emf or flow of the induced current can be determined by Flemings Right Hand Rule for Generator action.

Michael Faraday’s Law of Electromagnetic Induction-4The conductors (windings) are usually
housed on the Stator (Stationary part) whiles the Magnetic poles are usually housed on the Rotor (Rotating part).

Fleming’s Right Hand and Left Hand RuleAn emf is induced in a conductor when there
is relative motion between the conductor and the magnetic field (lines of force).
From first principles, the direction of the induced emf or flow of the induced current can be determined by Fleming’s Right Hand Rule for Generator action.

Fleming’s Right Hand and Left Hand Rule-2Also from first principles, a current carrying
conductor in a magnetic field will experience a jerk (force). The direction of this jerk (force) can be
determined by Flemings Left Hand Rule for Motor action.

Fleming’s Right Hand RuleFleming’s Right Hand Rule: This rule states
that if the thumb, fore finger and the central finger of the right hand are kept perpendicular to each other so that the fore finger points in the direction of the field and the thumb in the direction of the motion of the conductor, then the induced current flows in the direction of the central finger.

Fleming’s Left Hand RuleFor a conducting wire moving through a
magnetic field, a rule stating that if the middle finger, index finger, and thumb of a left hand are extended at right angles to each other, that the middle finger will indicate the direction of the flow of electrons, the index finger the direction of the magnetic field, and the thumb will indicate the direction of the movement of the wire.

Lenz LawLenz's law states that the current induced
in a circuit due to a change or a motion in a magnetic field is so directed as to oppose the change in flux and to exert a mechanical force opposing the motion.
