LEARNING OBJECTIVES • Treatment Planning Sequence for Implant Placement. Steps will be
addressed for the development of an implant treatment planning sequence to reduce short and long term complications.
• Sequence of Treatment for Esthetics in the Maxilla for Implant Prostheses. Esthetics in the premaxilla is responsible for maxillary lip support and the appearance of the teeth during smiling. Steps for an esthetic restoration of the edentulous maxilla will be discussed.
• Treatment Planning for Edentulous Patients Maxilla vs Mandible (3 hours). Steps will be addressed for the treatment plan of the edentulous maxilla vs. mandible, including bone dentisty, force, tooth position, available bone and density and implant design.
CARL E. MISCH, DDS, MDS, PHDDr. Carl E. Misch is a world-renowned clinician, lecturer and author in the field of dental implants. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1973 from the University of Detroit Dental School, then went on to receive his Prosthodontic Certificate, Implantology Certificate and Masters Degree in Dental Science from the University of Pittsburgh. His numerous
faculty appointments include the University of Detroit Mercy, the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Misch is currently a Clinical Professor and the past Director of Oral Implantology at Temple University in Philadelphia and served as the Director of the Oral Implantology Residency Program at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine from 1989 to 1996. He has maintained a private practice for more than 30 years.
In 1984, Dr. Misch founded the Misch International Implant Institute™ (MIII), which now has locations in Michigan, Florida, California and Canada. Over the years, the MIII has been present in Brazil, Las Vegas, Florida, Italy, Japan, Korea, Monaco, Spain and the United Kingdom. As Director, Dr. Misch has trained more than 3,500 doctors in a hands-on, yearly forum of education in implant dentistry with programs offered in both surgical and prosthetic aspects of care.
Dr. Misch has more than ten patents related to implant dentistry and is co-inventor of the BioHorizons® Maestro™ Dental Implant System. He has written three editions of Contemporary Implant Dentistry (Elsevier), which has become one of the most popular books in dentistry and has been translated into Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Korean. His most recent text is Dental Implant Prosthetics (Elsevier). He has published over 250 articles and has repeatedly lectured in every state in the United States as well as in 47 countries throughout the world.
