    The overall strategic goal of the programme is to foster the sustainable development of the border region through enhanced economic, social and territorial cohesion of the areas on both sides of the border.

    Type of the project for Alytus Parish Small Projects Fund. Priority 2 can be chosen for Alytus Parish. Cross-border cohesion and enhanced overall quality of the cross-border area. Sub-priority 2.1. Development of new and strengthening of existing co-operation and social and cultural networks.

Support for Children Day Care Centers in LithuaniaThe support should be provided for social risk children and their families, socially supported families and families that have social, psychological and other problems. Duration of the project 1 year with a possibility to extend it for 2 more years.

Support for Children Day Care Centers in Lithuania Priorities are given to the applicants who:Have cooperation agreements with local municipality institutions.Have another reliable source of funding which provide support for project activities of whole year.Have work experience in the activities which are eligible for funding and have qualified specialists.Foresee activities in rural areas.

Social Programme ProjectsThe objective of the Programme to provide social services for the citizens of Alytus City.Priorities of the Programme:Social services are provided on regular basis and these services are available for the citizens of Alytus City.Increase of availability of social services to people having disability or who are of social risk and their family members.Projects which increase independence, occupation and motivation of people with disability or which are of social risk.The applicant has experience in providing social services for Community, has material resources and other sources of funding.

  • 2.3. Private funds in Lithuania

  • 2.3.1. Kazickas family foundation The foundation works primarily in the USA and Lithuania; however, it has also significantly supported projects in other countries. Programmes and projects sponsored by the foundation primarily involve: education and culture organizations health care, religious and charitable organizations universities and schools charitable foundations with congruent goals and programmes in the USA and Lithuania.

Charity foundation Vilties salaThe foundation cooperates with charitable organizations in Denmark, Finland, Germany, Norway, USA and Lithuania, with Lithuanian and foreign companies, public organizations, schools, preschools, special educational institutions, religious communities, and sport clubs.The foundation aims at supporting destitute families, homeless children, boarding-schools and nursing homes, preschools, medical and other institutions of satisfactory condition.The charity and support foundation organizes various charitable feasts, sponsors excursions and childrens recreation camps.

  • Conclusions

  • Conclusions (I) International projects seem to be a better option for these reasons:It provides a possibility to get a larger amount of funding for the project. Infrastructural projects can be supported by some of the programmes.Exchange of knowledge and experience between neighbourhood countries is promoted.Youth exchange is promoted.

  • Conclusions (II)There are not many sources of Local funding in Lithuania. The problems with the funds are:The amount of funding is limited.Most of them do not support infrastructural projects.The competition is intense.
