Loud tie day See who can wear the most outrageous tie. You could even design your own! Charge a fee for your workmates to enter and display their tie on a designated day. Make your own pizza night Host a pizza night where you can either get a local pizzeria to provide free pizza or you can make your own. You can charge by the slice or a flat entry fee. Include a movie screening and beverages as well. Night in Get your mates together to donate the cost of a meal and cook them a treat for the night in. Office collection day Put a beard donation box on your desk at work. Personalise your page Update your personal page with your story about why you are fundraising for Cancer Council Queensland. Include photos of your fundraising journey and share this with your family, friends and colleagues. Quiz night Host a quiz night full of party trivia games such as charades, world trivia, or ‘80s music, and you can theme it Beard150! Charge a small fee for each game guests want to play or an overall price. Include snacks and treats for guests to enjoy. Races It can be any kind of relay race - be imaginative! Think tug of war, a sack- race, three-legged race, sponge race, turtle race, electric wheelchair race, or even a stiletto race and charge people for entry. This could be included in your next BBQ event. Sausage sizzles Dress up in pirate outfits with friends and family. You don’t have to grow a beard, just use fake ones to sell sausages at your local Officeworks or Bunnings over the weekend. Print some beards from cancerqld.org.au/beard150 and make some fun photo props. Charge entry. You could even organise some games or a best-styled beard competition. Arm wrestling Charge your mates competition fees or invite your local rugby/ footie/any testosterone-driven team to arm wrestle one another. It could be held at your local pub. You could even fashion a snazzy badge/medal for the winner. Charity golf day Get the gents together for a day on the green. Ask for an entry fee and impose fines for bad luck and ungentlemanly behaviour. Eating competition When it comes to food, there are a lot of challenges to be set, particularly for fans of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! You can get freaky with your food offerings and raise money with entry or challenge fees. Film-themed party night Stage a screening in your own home! Choose films that involve epic bearded men, such as The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit and Pirates of the Caribbean or simply choose fan favourites such as Star Wars or James Bond. Charge a fee for the screening and snacks. Go-karting Organise a group of mates to head to the local Go Kart track. Inform the staff of your fundraising efforts and hope that they waive the admission fee – best to go at off-peak times. Ask each person to pay a fee to enter a series of races and award each winner a small prize. It ’ s a knockout Get some teams together and arrange sporty assault courses, games and quizzes galore. Each team member pays a small fee to take part, with the winning team awarded a trophy or prizes. Talent night Showcase local talent and charge an entry fee. Hold a raffle with a donated prize. Volleyball tournament Charge an entry fee and get local businesses to donate prizes for the winners. You could make it beard themed and get everyone to wear a beard – real or fake. Write a letter Write personalised letters to family and friends. The most effective letters are those that explain not only what your cancer story is, but also how it has impacted you personally. X-Box or PlayStation play-off Invite your mates over for a game night. Include pizzas and snacks, and you could be rolling in donations. You could charge per game and snacks, or a one off donation. Yo-yo competition Get people to pay to enter, hand out small prizes for duration and tricks. Zumba It can be all boys, or all girls. It can be done in water or in costume. Make your next fundraising event a Zumba beard-themed party and charge people a small entry fee.
