LITURGY OF THE WORDA READING FROM THE BOOK OF SIRACH (2:1-9) read by Beth KerrWhen you come to serve the Lord, prepare yourself for testing. Set your heart right and be steadfast, and do not be impetuous in time of calamity. Cling to him and do not depart, so that your last days may be prosperous.

Accept whatever befalls you, and in times of humiliation be patient. For gold is tested in the fire, and those found acceptable, in the furnace of humiliation. Trust in him, and he will help you. Make your ways straight and hope in him.

You who fear the lord, wait for his mercy; do not stray, or else you may fall. You who fear the Lord, trust in him, and your reward will not be lost. You who fear the Lord, hope for good things, for lasting joy and mercy.

This is the word of the Lord.A: Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM Sung: ‘The Lord is my shepard’ Boniwell

No one can come to the father expect through me.’’

PREFACEC: The Lord be with you. A: And with your spirit.

C: Lift up your hearts.A: We lift them up to the Lord.

C: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.A: It is right and just.

C: It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks. Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord. In him the hope of resurrection has dawned, that those saddened by the certainty of dying, might be consoled by the promise of immortality to come. Indeed, for your faithful, Lord, life has changed, not ended, and, when this earthly dwelling turns to dust, an eternal dwelling is made ready for them in heaven.

And so, with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominions, and with all the hosts and Powers of heaven, we sing the hymn of your glory, as without end we acclaim:A: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. (kneel)

C: You are indeed Holy, 0 Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that they may become for us the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his Passion, he took bread and, giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: ‘‘take this, all of you, and eat of it: for this is my body, which will be given up for you.”

In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and, once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying: ‘‘take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me.’’

C: The mystery of faith:A: We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your Resurrection until you come again.

Page 8: Funeral Mass to celebrate the life of Chris Doutr´e

6.

C: Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his Death and Resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Francis our Pope and Peter our Archbishop and all the clergy.

Remember your servant Chris whom you have called from this world to yourself. Grant that he who was united with your Son in a death like his, may also be one with him in his Resurrection.

Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy: welcome them into the light of your face.

Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with the blessed Apostles, and all the Saints who have pleased you will throughout the ages, we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.

Through him and with him, and in him, 0 God, almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honour is yours for ever and everA: Amen.

COMMUNION RITESC: At the Saviour’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:A: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

C: Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant us peace in our days. that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.A: For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and forever.

C: Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.A: Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

COMMUNION HYMN’S1. Amazing Grace2. What a friend we have in Jesus

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNIONC: Let us pray, Lord God, your Son Jesus Christ gave us the sacrament of his body and blood to guide us on our pilgrim way to your kingdom. RECESSIONAL SONG You’ll never walk alone

Page 11: Funeral Mass to celebrate the life of Chris Doutr´e

I shall be telling this with a sighSomewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I---I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

Robert Frost

Rest in Peace
