FURNITURE AT SCHOOL

Today we have tables and chairs in the classroom. In the past children used to write on their knees or on the floor.

Michael Thonet (1796-1871) invented futniture. Thonet was the son of a master tanner Franz Anton Thonet of Boppard. After completing his carpenter education Thonet opened his own workshop in 1819.

With every year furniture change for newer. Today we have modern desks, in the past there were for excample : plates.
