The Dark Knight Rises- PostersThis poster concentrates on Batman himself. The position that he is standing in makes him seem like a very powerful character. However the picture used seems as if they are trying to make him look like the villain in the film, however as the audience already knows from past batman films he is in fact the hero of the film. This poster also uses lighting to create the most effective look as possible. I think that this use of low key lighting gives a very ‘Dark’ effect which if clearly what the producers were aiming for. I also like the way that ‘Rise’ is used as a tag line from the title of the film, which is allowing the audience to know that ‘Rise’ will be of importance in the film. This poster is very simple but very effective in the way that it will attract the audience. There isn’t many colours used mainly black and with the attention to lighting I think that it works very well as a poster.

The Dark Knight Rises- PostersThe context behind this poster attracts a much wider audience as of the main picture that the poster is based upon. The way that the Dark Knight Rises is mainly seen as a film with masculine characters it is quite intriguing that the main photo been used here is a woman’s plat-formed heeled boot. The way that at the base of the heel it has Batman’s logo on it allows the audience to see that she has a connection with him and therefore is working with him in the film. Also behind the title that is a lip print and two ‘X’s t representing kisses. This is seen as a female stereotype and therefore is also another idea that allows the audience to grasp the idea of a main female character. Like the pervious poster the theme colour that is used is black which then leaves most of the effect down to the low key lighting that we can see on the poster which is affective throughout these posters.

The Dark Knight Rises- PostersThis poster has been designed so to inform the audience of what the film is without needing to use a title. The way that the shot has been designed form a low angle with the Batman sign formed around the tops of the buildings with the rocking flying around, screams the title of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. The ‘Dark Knight’ is represented by the Batman symbol in the sky and the ‘Rises’ is represented the way the symbol looks as if it has risen up from under the surface of the Earth. I like the way that this has been constructed, I think that it works really well as a poster and at a first glace is very appealing to the eye in the effect that it gives to the target audience or even a floating audience. Even though this approach to the posters is slightly different to the others it still has an element of similarity to it when it comes to the colour scheme. However it relies on natural lighting through the Batman sign.

The teaser trailer that has been made for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ mainly focus the film around the voice of the man in hospital. As he speaks the things that her talks about are the occur as they do in the film. The teaser trailer only runs for 1 minute 36 seconds which is normal for a teaser trailer. The main reason for having this to get the audience excited about the film and to give them a taster as to what to expect in the real trailer. The teaser trailer has title screens that has certain quotes that when the audience see it for the first time it will keep them guessing but hints will allow them to get fans excited about the film.

In my opinion I think that the way that this is done is very effective and has a good way of capturing the audience. This is very common across many teaser trailers and normal official trailers. It holds tension and suspense for the audience which makes them want to see the film even more. In this teaser trailer we see the image from one of the posters being used in order to make a link and to give the audience hints about the film. I think that the way that this part of the teaser trailer has been filmed is very effective and gives and exciting feel to the trailer.

The producers of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ decided to make a website as a part of their promotional campaign. The website includes several different elements to the film like a ‘gallery’ and a ‘soundtrack’ that fans will be interested in looking at for more to do with the film. The website also includes the trailer of the film which plays as the website opens, I think that this looks very professional and classy.
