www. .co.ukstaticsystems
Our nurse call solution forms the basis of theFusion-IP system - with ‘patient-to-staff’ and‘staff-to-staff’ communication as the primaryfunction.
A patient requiring assistance presses the callbutton on the patient hand unit. This causes areassurance LED on the hand unit to illuminatealong with the staff reset push button on thebedhead unit.
Simultaneously, the call is raised on staffindicators, amber coloured over door lightsilluminate and nearby tone units sound toassist staff quickly and efficiently to the waitingpatient.
On attending the patient, staff reset the call bypressing the reset button on the bedhead unitand the system returns to its quiescent state.
If staff require further assistance an‘emergency’ call - often referred to as a ‘staffassistance’ call can be raised by pulling thered emergency pull on the patient bedheadunit.A well designed nurse call system, complying with HTM 08-03:
Bedhead Services, provides reassurance to patients and canimprove nursing efficiency. Fusion-IP is one of the mostadvanced nurse call systems available, provided by the leadingspecialist in nurse call communication.

Issue 1 (07/2012) - 6
www. .co.ukstaticsystems
In today’s efficiency driven healthcareenvironment a facility which allows a patientto contact the catering team directly is a must.
With this in mind Static Systems hasdeveloped the Fusion-IP catering call app.which utilises the existing nurse callinfrastructure.
Nurse call patient hand units with a cateringcall button are provided. To call the cateringteam the button is pressed by the patient. Thecall, together with a bed reference, is raised onan indicator designated to the catering team. The call is accepted and reset at the indicatorbefore visiting the patient to attend to theirneeds.
Alternatively, the call can be reset at thepatient’s bedhead.
As a further option, indicators can besupplemented with staff pagers, and if thenurse call system includes speech the cateringteam can speak directly with the patientbefore visiting their bedside.Adding catering call to the nurse call system is an intelligent
use of existing resources, leading to reduced pressure onnursing staff whilst assisting the catering team in delivering anefficient service - all leading to improved patient care.

patient entertainment(infrared tv control)
Issue 4 (08/12)
www. .co.ukstaticsystems
Many hospitals wish to provide patiententertainment. One of the most cost effectivesolutions is to use the Fusion-IP patiententertainment app. to integrate the patienthand unit with a proprietary television usingindustry standard Infrared protocols.
With the hand unit the patient can:
turn the television ‘on’ and ‘off’ select channels using up / down buttons control volume select programme information choose TV or radio services
Patient entertainment is now recognized as a crucial part ofpatient care and an aid to recovery. However, depending onthe option chosen, it can be expensive for the hospital to installand for the patient to use. Fusion-IP offers a cost competitivesolution.
Uses propriety televisions, allowing the hospital to purchasedirect from the manufacturer.
Provides free-to-air digital TV and commercial radio - all at nocost to the patient.
Utilises widely available universal infrared protocols for easeof installation, servicing and upgrade.
The hospital is not tied into a contract and servicing can becarried out by the hospital’s own qualified personnel.
Control buttons are incorporated into the nurse call patienthand unit, designed in consultation with the Royal NationalInstitute of Blind People (RNIB) to ensure ease of use bypeople with a wide range of disabilities.
Removes the need for a separate TV remote control unit.
To assist with infection control, an anti-miocrobial agent isadded during the hand unit manufacturing process, and unitscan also be cleaned using a sanitising wipe.
Additional facilities such as ‘catering call’ and ‘lighting control’can be incorporated into the hand unit for patientconvenience and improved staff efficiency.

Staff presence is available as an optionalfacility with the Fusion-IP nurse call system.
Using ultrasound technology for improvedlocation accuracy in real time staff presence isprovided primarily as an aid to efficiency, although it can also improve patient dignityand assist in work-flow analysis.
Members of staff wear transmitters. As theymove around the transmitter sends a signalwhich is detected by monitors installedthroughout the department.
On entry to a room or bed bay, active patientcall are automatically reset by the system anda green over door light outside the roomilluminates to advise that a member of staff ispresent.
Simultaneously, the real time location of staffis shown on staff indicators and logged by thesystem.
The green over door light automatically returnsto its quiescent state as the member of staffleaves the room.
As a further benefit of nurse presence, if staffpress the call button on the bedhead when‘presence’ is registered, an intermediate ‘staffassistance’ call is activated and an ‘amberover door light illuminates alongside the greenover door light to notify other members of staff
Staff presence is provided as an aid to improved efficiency. Ithelps staff locate other members of their team, reduces thedistance staff need to travel in order to fulfill their duties andcan also improve patient dignity and assist in work-flowanalysis. Uses ultrasound technology for unrivalled accuracy and
reliable reporting.
The location of staff is monitored in real time with over doorlights updating automatically to indicate staff presence withina room.
‘Addressable’ staff transmitters for named identification ofpersonnel.
The system automatically recognises when a call is beingraised by staff and upgrades the alert to a ‘staff assistance’call.
