Redefinition of traditional values

Experimental, individualism, free spirited, social cause oriented. Big Social and Political evolutions. Think Woodstock & Beatlemania!

Often Digitally they fall into the categories of Avoiders, Reluctant Adopters and Eager Adopters

Often criticized by Baby Boomers as ‘slackers’, ‘whiners’ and ‘the doom generation’.

Baby Busters. (drop in the birth rate following the baby boom).

Savvy but amoral, more focused on Money & Success than on art.

Unlike their parents who challenged leaders with an intent to replace them, Generation X tend to ignore leaders.

Diverse in aspects of society such as "race, class, religion, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. Strong Individualism.

Big portion of digital immigrants - individuals who was born before the existence of digital technology and adopted it to some extent later.

Management Style Tips:

1) Listen to the millennial employee. They have ideas and opinions, get to know them.

2) Up for a challenge and change. Boring is bad. Winning Teams not just Individuals.

3) Multi-taskers on a scale you’ve never seen before. Multiple tasks don’t phase them – but with deadlines

4) Take advantage of your millennial employee’s computer, cell phone, and electronic literacy.

5) Capitalize on the millennial’s affinity for networking. Web job boards, interactive status reporting,

6) Provide a life-work balanced workplace.

7) Provide a fun, employee-centered workplace.

Generation I (Internet Generation),Digital Native born completely within technology

They are highly connected, many having had lifelong use of technologies - www, instant messaging, mp3, mobile phones, you tube.

Internet is now increasingly carried in their pockets

Described as impatient and instant minded, and tending to lack the ambition of previous generations.

Superficial Extraverts - Socialising does not consist of going out to a movie

Attention span is much lower..
