2011-2012 National Officer Mid-Year Report Board of Directors Meeting – January 13, 2012

Goal Number One: Customer Service Target State Program – This initiative’s focus is to reenergize recently inactive chapters

or chapters whose membership numbers are significantly decreased. The 2011-2012 National Officer Team has utilized this program to reach out to chapters on a local level and strengthen the core of our organization.

Dress to Win Wednesday – The 2011-2012 National Officer Team unveiled this program to increase membership involvement and provided a simple and exciting opportunity for members to participate. On a designated Wednesday of each month that National Officer Team has asked local chapters to have their members dress in business attire and send a picture of their chapter to the National Center.

Business Achievement Award Tutorial – With the updates to the BAA program, the 2011-2012 National Officer Team created a BAA video tutorial for members and advisers to help make the transition easier on our membership. The BAA tutorial

Goal Number One: Customer Service (cont.)was created as a SlideRocket presentation by Western Region Vice President Aaron Wodka, and the tutorial walks members and advisers through the BAA process step-by-step.

FBLA Hotline – The FBLA National Officer Team has created a Hotline for members and advisers to call to ask questions or make general comments. This program has been overwhelmingly successful with our membership.

Goal Number Two: Relationships Education Nation – This year FBLA-PBL was privileged to attend NBC’s Education

Nation, which is a conference that aims to increase the level of the national conversation about education. FBLA-PBL President and CEO Ms. Buckley, FBLA President Taylor Sarman, and PBL President Jake Barreau were all in attendance.

Service In Sync – The National Officers introduced a new national project that encourages members to participate in a synchronized service project during FBLA-PBL Week. The project theme this year is Elementary Education Literacy where members are encouraged to read to elementary students in the classroom.

Association for Career and Technical Education – FBLA President, Taylor Sarman and FBLA-PBL Marketing Director Troy White attended the ACTE National Conference in St. Louis, Missouri and networked with other Career and Technical Student Organizations and CTE leaders.

Middle Level Activity – National FBLA Parliamentarian Nadine Goldberg has been leading a task force to focus on ways to be innovative with the Middle Level Program. In her efforts, she has worked to find an exceptional local middle level chapter that has partnered with a successful high school chapter to serve as a role model for growth in the middle level.

March of Dimes Volunteer Leadership Conference – FBLA-PBL President and CEO Ms. Buckley, FBLA President Taylor Sarman, and PBL Southern Region Vice President Aaron Carroll attended the March of Dimes Volunteer Leadership Conference and accepted the award for most money raised by a March of Dimes youth service partner.

Goal Number Three: Resources FBLA National Treasurer Drew Marx is leading the way in increasing the resources of

our organization. Drew is working with Ms. Grant to create and update the database of potential sponsors and contact information.

FBLA National Treasurer Drew Marx is partnering with the rest of the National Officer Team and National Center to contact at least one potential sponsor a month.

Some potential sponsors that have been included on the list are: Adobe, Chrysler, Bank of America, Dell, Kroger’s, and John Deere.

Goal Number Four: Image and Awareness Twitter – National Secretary, McKenna Murray has developed a list of “tweets” that

have been uploaded into the National FBLA TweetDeck to be shared with our followers on Twitter.

Facebook Pages – The National FBLA Officers have each created their own “FBLA Position” Page on Facebook. This is a great way for members to stay updated on items that each individual officer is doing throughout the year.

Tomorrow’s Business Leader – The 2011-2012 National Officer Team has been very focused on assuring high quality articles are included in Tomorrow’s Business Leader.

Legislative Advocacy – All National FBLA Officers scheduled meetings with their respective legislators to discuss the value of Career and Technical Education.
