ABOUT TOPSIM – GOING GLOBAL f The management simulation depicts six economic
regions with different framework conditions. Taking
the role of the executive management of a washing
machine manufacturer, the participants initially
work in their home region only. Soon the inter-
nationalisation activities of the companies take
centre stage. In the context of this “Going Global”
process, it is initially necessary to identify and
evaluate the opportunities and risks posed by
the new markets as well as the strengths and
weaknesses of the company. Following the mar-
ket entry decision, the players are faced with the
task of developing appropriate market cultivation
strategies and implementing them in their
decisions.

Commercial banks have an important role in today‘s
economies as financial intermediaries. Their activities
create the necessary framework for the circulation
of money, and organise lot size transformation,
maturity transformation and risk transformation.
Commercial banks also provide access to organised
capital markets and financial products. Individual
banks are subject to the regulatory requirements of
their central banks.

The insurance sector has an increasingly important
role in modern society. By covering many risks, both
for the economy as a whole and for individuals, the
industry facilitates business and innovation. Conti-
nuing low interest rates, stricter regulatory require-
ments and the digitalisation of value chains within the
sector make this a highly dynamic market.
Understanding the core business in depth and
building a strong customer base is therefore essential.
