Year 10 students and parents are invited to attend a Future Pathways VET information session.Information about VET in Year 11 & 12 will be provided to ensure students are well informed of the various opportunities available to them in the final 2 years of Senior Schooling.Information provided will assist students completing the SET plan and planning for 2020 including external
certificates and school based traineeships and apprenticeship.

What’s the difference?
Traineeships:
• Encompass most industries
• Duration 1 – 2 years
• Usually finished while at school student
• Retail, Hospitality, Sport & Recreation, Business & many more.

Apprenticeships:
• Trade qualification
• Duration 3 – 4 years full time
• Ongoing commitment after
Year 12
• E.g. Carpenter, Mechanic, Chef, Hairdresser etc.
How do I get a SAT?
Option Two – Advertised Positions
• Prepare resume & cover letter
• Check your emails for vacancies, newsletter & notice boards for advertised positions.
• Liaise with VET Coordinator regarding positions
• Apply as directed
• Complete necessary paperwork

Option One – Finding your own SAT
• Prepare resume & cover letter
• Approach business & enquire about opportunities
• If an opportunity arises, provide details to VET Coordinator (Ms Bennett)
• Ask your current employer
• Complete necessary paperwork

• All School based traineeships and apprenticeships are subject to the approval of our Deputy Principal
• Student must maintain a satisfactory level of school work
• Student must agree to the terms and conditions including off the job training
• Complete all modules in accordance with the training plan
How does VET contribute to QCE
CARE COURTESY COOPERATION CHALLENGE COMMITMENT
Credits/points are awarded for new learning• If you do a Cert II and Cert III in the same subject you will only be awarded
points for the higher Cert.
• Credits/Points will only be awarded for one Certificate if both are from the same training package, i.e. Tourism and Hospitality, Fitness and Sport & Rec.
The QCE Forecaster on the college website calculates all the Certificates we deliver, it doesn’t calculate Certificates from external RTOs. If unsure of QCE points please see Deputy Principal for Senior Secondary Mrs Philippa Walker or Head of Department for VET Mr Dean Roberts
• The VET investment budget provides funding for students to complete ONE VETiSqualification listed on the Queensland Training Subsidies List while at school.
