Fuzzy Text Tutorial
Level>Easy to Intermediate
1. Open the 1600 x 1200 px Wooden Rack background. Create your Text with a rounded
font, I’m using Insaniburger with the size of 500px, Letter Spacing>40 and color white.
2. Center the Text using the Align tool, then right click the Text layer and select Layer to
Image Size. Go to Layer>Layer Effects>Drop Shadow and apply settings.
3. Right click the Text layer and select Alpha to Selection then Open as Layer, the Fabric
Texture. Go to Select>None
4. Right Click the Fabric layer and select Add Layer Mask, choose the Selection option.
5. Right click the Fabric layer again and select Apply Layer Mask. With the fabric layer
selected, go to Layer>Layer Effects>Inner Shadow and apply settings.
6. Go to Layer >Layer Effects>Bevel and Emboss and apply settings
7. Right click the Fabric layer and select Alpha to Selection then go to Select>To Path to
create a Path for the brush stroke. We don’t need the selection anymore so go to
Select>None to get rid of the selection.
8. Now we’re going to create a Fuzzy dynamic brush, so pick up the Grass brush named
Iceytina-grass blade 66. Click on Dynamics then click on Open the dynamic selection
dialog and Create a New dynamic.
9. On the top give a name of “Fuzzy” then on Dynamics option, click on the options
marked.
10. Make Iceytina-grass blade 66, Size>35px, Spacing>10. Change the Foreground to
ffcade color and the Background should be white. After that, create a New layer and name
it “Frey”.
11. Let’s create the Frey on the Text. Go to Edit>Stroke Path and on the option change to
Stroke with the Paint tool (make sure is on the Brush) and Emulate brush dynamics. Click
Ok and repeat the Stroke two more times.
12. Now change the Brush size>45 px then swab the Foreground/Background (click on the
swab arrows) to have the white color as the background and repeat the Edit>Stroke Path
twice.
13. Now let’s hang the Text. First Place a Horizontal Guide on the 200 px mark then
create a New layer on top of the Background layer and name it “Cord”. Pick up the Paths
tool and starting from the left corner of the first letter, click once. Click up on the Guide
and down to the other corner of the letter to create a sort of cone shape.
14. As you create the shapes make sure to center the top point of the path (on the Guide).
Now go to the Paths dialog and right click the Paths and select, Paths to Selection.
Go to Edit>Stroke Path>Stroke Line size 10px. Select the Move tool.
15. Apply the same Layer>Layer Effects>Drop Shadow we used on the Text.
16. Layer>Layer Effects>Pattern Overlay, use the Diagonal denim stripes
17. Create a New layer on top of the Cord layer and name it “Nails”. Take the Ellipse
select tool and create a circle on the top corner of the Cord and fill it with a metal gradient
of your choice. While the selection still active, Copy and Paste and move the Nail to the
next Cord. Keep pasting until you have all the letters done.
18. Click on the little Anchor at the bottom of the Layers dialog to set the selection, then
Layer>Layer Effects>Drop shadow and change the option and apply
19. Make sure you have the Nails layer selected and use the same Layer >Layer
Effects>Inner Shadow options.
20. Last but not least, go to Layer>Layer Effects>Bevel and Emboss and change the
options a little. That will give the nails a realistic look. Thank you for following this
tutorial, I hope you enjoy it.
