STUDENT PUBLICATIONS: THEN AND NOWBy Lisa Wallace, newspaper/yearbook adviser

Student publications at Fort Worth Country Day have enjoyed a healthy support from students and faculty alike, as evidenced not only in the breadth of publications, but also in the longevity. Sometype of student-produced writings have been a part of our history for 50 years. Ranging from the handwritten headlines and purple-mimeographed copies of the “The Falcon TTale,” which chronicled results of sports competitions, to the professionally printed publications of today, students have shown their support of, and interest in, writing and reading all about Fort Worth Country Day. While the first Flight yearbook came out in 1967 and has been in continuous publication since, other student publications including Prism, publications including Prism, The Falcon Quill, The Chicken Plucker, Falcon Fledgling, Scorpion, The Talon, The Falcon Tale and The Forum, have come and gone.

Memories of changes in technology, the location of the publications’ headquarters, ad-vertising and delivery methods are all included below, as well as a recap of student publications as they exist today. Several of the Flight editors and other publications staffers have shared their memories with us for this article and the complementary Falcon Facts.
