CORE PROGRAMS
FUNDERS
1. MAP - Media Arts Program
MAP takes place after school and serves up to 75 youth per year.
Activities include facilitated group discussions and interactive
media arts projects to share poignant personal stories and articulate
lived experiences through photography, video and creative writing.
2. LOUDER THAN A BOMB
Louder Than A Bomb is an extraordinary youth poetry festival that
uses spoken word poetry to engage over 400 young people in
literacy, oral tradition and personal empowerment. LOVE spoken
word artists lead workshops in classroom settings, slam teams then
compete in regional, semi-final & final poetry slams city-wide.
3. LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
Leadership builds on MAP, creating youth advocates who
undertake local projects and build leadership skills. Youth explore
civic engagement, media literacy and critical thinking.
4. NATIONAL LEADERSHIP CAMP
Each year, approximately 20 youth from each LOVE region in
Canada came together for an intensive week long national
leadership camp. Youth participate in a variety of leadership
activities and form long-lasting friendships.
5. ANTI-VIOLENCE WORKSHOPS
LOVE leads hands-on, customized workshops in schools and
community settings, covering a range of important topics such as
Day of Pink, Anti-Bullying, Healthy Relationships, Black History
Month, Cyber Bullying, Body Image and Mental Health.
